Good Morning Chickstar ... one thing that helps mood management is lots of hugs. Here is my personal stash. ;p * Discipline is remembering what you want. Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishments. * Man�s power of choice enables him to think like an angel or a devil, a king or a slave. Whatever he chooses, mind will create and manifest. * Our attitudes control our lives. Attitudes are a secret power working twenty-four hours a day, for good or bad. Hi all, & before anyone says it - no I haven't smoked and No I do not want to smoke. But by god, I'm in an absolute foul mood. Have been for a few days. That is why I haven't been posting much - even to sweet marie's 2 months celebration (sorry) and to say thanks to Mr Edward for my 90 day celebration (sorry). I start to post on a lot of threads & just quit my post in a f'n grump. I'm actually scared to post to some in case I yell at someone for being nasty or whatever. See what I mean? So, I'm glad that I've read so many times that some people get a bit weird around the 3 month mark or I'd think that this was a need to smoke. Again - I DO NOT WANT to smoke. There is no doubt in my mind about that so please don't read this and tell me not to smoke thank you very much. BUT, does anyone have any mood management tactics? Hi guys and thanks for all the excellent advice. I'm feeling better already. I've never posted before when I've been in a fouler. My bad moods don't tend to last for long but this one was a doozie. REWARDS - I had a facial today - one of the best I've ever had and it was made sweeter by virtue of the fact that it was my 3 month reward. Then I spent time with the dot (daughter) in the park in the sunshine enjoying the little things. My biggest reward to myself has been my renewed COURAGE in life. Now I find I can be brave enough to apply for a big new job - I have an interview next Tuesday, which I guess has been stressing me a little. But now that I can see past the foul mood I am focusing on the fact that, whatever the outcome of the new job is, I have a courageous life now and I am not hiding behind a smoke screen anymore. Hi Alison, I remember my moods were bad at the 90 day mark. But like you, I knew I was way past the point where I would have thought 'I'm in a horrible mood, so let's have a cig!' Even now, I can still be moody, but I know this will pass. Moods, yes. Craving, no. As RD man has said earlier, I too find exercise helps. I do a nice little 26 mile Marathon each day and I'm too exhausted to row with anybody. take care - you'll be fine! Hello Alison I guess everyone is afraid because you said you were moody.;-) Here goes, because I have big, big mood swings. Physical activity can get you through. It is really hard to be angry or sad or just plain grumpy when you are running or swimming or rowing a boat like crazy. Doesn't have to be outside and it is better in the fresh air. Just do enough to work up a sweat and maintain that for about half an hour. I know that this has worked for me on many occasions. It is a really swell idea to check with your Dr befor you start and kind of activity like this. Another mood activity that can work is relaxation meditation. I found this to help but it did not do the job as well as sweating the mood out. The thoughts that originally brought on the mood were able to sneak in under the meditation. Dancing helps, not to go to a bar or a club but to put on a headset, turn the lights way down and dance like there is no tomorrow and there is no one watching. Good idea to clear the furniture and put your pets in another room this can freak them out. Humour... Cheers Hope you feel better soon. hmmm....I remember going through that. Everything I started to write just sounded so....oh, i don't know...i deleted it all. Allison, One of the most important things we can do for ourselves is to be patient with us. Almost all phases of this quit will pass with time. But we just want it to be done. Be patient...you are right at the point where most people turn a courner and life is good (somewhat normal?) again. And seriously....don't forget the rewards!! :) They do help with the doldrums!
