A little update for you all. You all know my story from yesterday, well thanks to this website, and more importantly everyone who is on it, i got all of the encouragement that i needed. I did not smoke. I finally got my lift and got to my mates house. We went out to the pub and still i did not smoke....all day yesterday. That is another day down and here am i going into my fifth!:) I am so proud of myself, and so thankful to everyone here whose words of experience and faith in me made this seem more possible to me. Thankyou 'Oice cold water' is the key! It is different to the usual ice cold water that i used to drink as a smoker. 'Oice cold water' makes me not want to smoke!! lol. Crave the quit Keep the faith in yourself kolativey My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 4 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 51 Amount Saved: 20 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 9 Mins: 19 Seconds: 15

What a day? I have been so stressed. Let me explain. I came to work early today, because i knew that i was having to leave early to go to my mates house for the weekend! However i have now been waiting an hour and a half for my lift, and while at first she was shopping, she is now lost and i know that it is not her fault, but i have been getting really stressed out. I kept thinking that if i had a cigareete it would chill me out and calm me down a bit, and that would keep me sane. I decided to come on here. What a revelation...just reading some of the posts has made me feel so much better. Whilst doing this i have been drinking some oice cold water and breathing in and out deeply. To just know that others are going through the same thing takes away my feeling of loneliness, and i feel stronger. I have still not had a cigarette, and now feel confident that i wont at this point in time. Lets hope she arrives soon..... Your memory knows that in times like this you use to smoke. It was natural for you to light up. You have to retrain your brain. You need to be aware of your self talk. When your memory says it is time to have a smoke, you tell it 'no I am a non smoker now. i do not smoke in these types of situations anymore. I am a non smoker. I allow myself to feel these emotions and I deal with them instead of hide from them.' You can do this. I am. ;p My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/12/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 35 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,065 Amount Saved: $140 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 23 Mins: 44 Seconds: 7

Hi Kolativey, Well done! You're through the worst 3 days - it gets better from now, though expect a few ups and downs. Just one thing - are you from the west country (in England)? It's just that I hadn't heard of 'oice cold water' before :p Sorry about that, you'll get used to me Mr Ed :) Determination . Focus. Humour = a successful quit My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 123 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,709 Amount Saved: 922.5 Life Gained: Days: 20 Hrs: 14 Mins: 42 Seconds: 51

Dear kolativey Way to go on 3 days!! That is awesome. And like everyone else said.....smoking does not take away the stress. Do the deep breaths, find a mantra that works for you and drink plenty of water. Most important Dont smoke! If you have a really bad crave come here and read and post! Stay Strong.....You can do this!
