week from hell

Hang in there! I think we all have gone through the same thing, perhaps in different ways, but we all have our bad times. It does get easier. My wife had some of the same feelings and thoughts as well (except for getting rid of me). But, if your boyfriend understands what you are going through, he will support you. It is hard, no one said it was easy. I would also suggest that you dont drink either right now. We all know smoking and drinking go hand in hand...so just dont drink right now. The time will come where you will be able to have a drink and realize how different it tastes, and that good beer actually tastes like good beer and what you thought was good beer actually tastes like p*** :o) Dave My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/12/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 90 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,250 Amount Saved: $169.2 Life Gained: Days: 12 Hrs: 5 Mins: 43 Seconds: 57

Dear Talullahmay; Yes, it WILL pass! Please hang in there, neither a smoke nor a drink will help. It might stop the emotional pain for a minute or two, but it will return ten times worse! You'll hate the fact that you'll have thrown away 22 days of your quit. I've hit many times in my life where EVERYTHING seemed to be black, nothing working out right, my motivation was gone, etc. It has always passed - - whether I was a smoker or a nonsmoker, the bleak times DO PASS. Giving up your quit will not help anything, trust me when I say you will not feel better about it. Post about your problems or find a friend who will listen, if anger or rage is involved - get physical in a healthy way, go for a run, a walk, to the gym, or drive your car to a secluded place & scream your head off (plus a few sobs too) to release that tension. Rest much, lay down in a quiet place, listen to your breathing, find a positive mantra to get your mind to stop racing. Just a few suggestions, but please know that we are all here for you. Tallulahmay, this is not an easy job, but so gratifying, don't let it get the best of you, you've got a lot done already. Chin up one day at a time :)Marie My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 57 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 869 Amount Saved: $228 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 15 Mins: 33 Seconds: 33

Talullahmay, By picking up a cigarette or a drink, you would only avoid the problems and emotions you are trying to deal with. It will not solve anything and if you keep smoking, you'll be back to hell week. Many members have found it helpful to vent here or keep a journal. You can also try taking a nap or treating yourself to something special to lift your mood. Keep strong, tommorrow is a new day and this shall pass. We are here to see you through this rough spot. Keep posting! Danielle ________________________ The SSC Support Team

hi all. im having the week from hell and today im hitting emotional rock-bottom. finding it difficult to cope with my emotions and feelings with nothing to take the edge off any sadness or anger i may be feeling. im finding it difficult to cope with life. i feel over-sensitive to everything and anyone and emotionally vunerable. i have an enormous stick which im using to beat myself up with. my self esteem is vitually non-exsistent. im even considering finishing with my boyfriend to put him out of the misery of going out with me. im craving non-stop for something / anything - cigarettes or alcohol. i choose not to pick up anything - i hope this will pass soon. ann My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/18/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 22 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 315 Amount Saved: 94.6 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 17 Mins: 38 Seconds: 55
