Hi Meg, And welcome. The good news is the uncomfortable feeling is a temparary one. I have two young kids, I know how hard it is. But it is worth, they are also worth it. List out all your reasons and bennifits for quiting. Keep them close. You can make it. This site is a wonderful place. Lots of help. You can do it. Hi, I am Meg, single mum to two girls. Have given up twice before. Once 19 years ago when I lasted 6 or 7 weeks (cold turkey) and once about 4 years ago when I used lozenges and lasted over 10 months with never a puff. (Oh how I wish I had kept going!) Today has been really rough (smoked way more before this one than the times I quit before.) Not so much wanting to light up, just really uncomfortable in my own skin. Anyway, I hope to be around here for a long time. Serenity2, Welcome to the SSC and congratulations on deciding to quit! Quitting is hard and preparation is key so please take advantage of our program. Start thinking of your routine. When did you smoke? Why? Where were you? Who were you with? Then start to make a plan that get around all those triggers. Start thinking about how you will modify your daily routines. Ex: You use to have coffee and a cigarette. Now you will have coffee and a newspaper? Start dreaming up a reward system. This is the best part of your quit! In general, it should have three components. You should get a reward for overcoming cravings, a bigger reward for every smoke free day accomplished and an even bigger reward for every smoke free week and milestone. Be kind to yourself this week! Do anything and everything that will make you feel better. Take a nap, a long bath, order in, go out and have fun... whatever gets you through the day. Keep us posted, Danielle ___________________________ The SSC Support Team
