Today, I Quit

17 years ago 0 744 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hi, Today I quit smoking, as I am so tired of this being a constant issue. I have smoked for 26 years and have tried to quit more times than I can count, which hasn't done much for my self-esteem at this point in my life, but I feel this time is different as I have actually anticipated this day. I just want to get past the withdrawl, past the moodiness, and finally move on to living a REAL life, one without having to stress about having that smoke. I want to get to the point where cigarettes aren't even in my thoughts and no longer control me. I know I have a ways to go, so I must stay focused and not let the nicodemon get the best of me. I WILL win this battle! :)

Hi Stormy...you and I have alot in common. Today I finished reading Allen Carr's book, and before I could even go through posting my quit date, I decided to stop. It is not a "quit". It is a life style change. I cried buckets last night because I smoked. Today I am trying to say my tears are joy. However, 12 hours smoke free, I am going mad. My husband says if this is the way its going to be, please smoke. My best friend was here for lunch and didn't realize I hadn't smoked...and yet, it is the first thing she notices. I feel let down and unsupported. Imagine, two people closest to you don't even realize you haven't lite up in 4 hours. I am not a happy camper, but I quess it will get better. Go for it!

Hi Stormy Welcome to the family, we are all dysfunctional here...lol ;) I have struggled along with others..I'm virtually new also and I still have my problems and cravings but one thing about it all is that I have someone to chat with ...i can come here and address any issue or problem that i have...and always remember to address your issues but never pick up that cig again... I too be glad when that day come where i won't even think about a cig... like this morning I was in pain and guess what i normally do when i'm in pain...thats right i smoke but i kept telling myself this too shall pass...it will be alright you no longer smoke...and I went to lay down..cried a little but hey I'm ok ... Now I"m up and I'm going to go get some of that humid air out there ... :) and just do some window shopping for a while at least as long as the pain holds up .. Again welcome and good luck to you P.Loving My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/3/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 8 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 255 Amount Saved: $31.6 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 21 Mins: 40 Seconds: 54

Stormy, I am so glad that you made this decision to quit. All of us here are struggling with ridding ourselves of the nicotine habit and we help each other out each step of the way.
