Thank you for the replies. I was very within myself and I needed to be reminded that it does get better. Thank you! Its so right though, it does feel like you put all of your energy into getting better and then the setback comes. I've spent the last two years exercising everyday, taking up hobbies that I enjoy, studying, travelling, exposure, exposure and more exposure. Today's my second day on Effexor, I hope this helps me, I feel quite drugged out but I've been told that the feeling will disappear after a several days. Thanks for replying, Angela :)

Hi, This is my first post too! Setbacks definitely suck, and you feel like you've already put as much energy as you've got into moving forward and then you hit a setback. They do pass though so keep going! I didn't want to take meds either but my depression got so bad that I started having thoughts of self harm so I've just started taking Cipralex and it seems to be helping. I reached a point where I realised that I couldn't fight fires on all fronts - depression & anxiety. Good luck Jude

Dear Ocean Turtle, I live by the sea - I like your name. As far as experiencing a detachment from reality and a feeling of floating - and, having thoughts that come from no where - tunnel vision, tunnel hearing - feelings of being totally alone and inside yourself - well, if you stay on this sight long enough - read through the posts - you will find the 'feelings' you are presenting to yourself are 'common denominators' to those of us who suffer from panic/anxiety attacks. [color=Orange] Hi there, This is my first post! I've had anxiety on and off for two years now and there have been some extreme times in which I take Xanax 250mcg only and only in extreme emergencies. My progress has generally been upward moving however I do have setbacks and a setback that I am experiencing at the moment is causing me the worst panic attacks I have ever experienced... Everything becomes white and hazy cloud looking, I dereolise and then depersonalise, have a really numb painfull headache caused by stress I'm assuming, I start to have harmful thoughts aimed at myself and others, I get paranoid while I seem detached from everything around me with extreme panic and fear of going crazy I even imagine myself laughing like a lunatic until it gets so bad that I take a small dose of Xanax and then everything is fine again, I'm relaxed, calm, and dont experience any irrational thoughts. I recently started seeing a pshyiatrist and I have been really pusing myself to face up to and explore my fears and past experiences but this is bringing up alot of tention and I guess my subconcious is bringing on these panics cause I have no idea what they are about. I feel like I'm moving backwards... I don't want to be fragile anymore, I want to face my fears and move on... I need to be reminded that it gets better! :|[/color]
