This was originally posted for Stubz however it is a good fit for all who start the quit: I haven't had the pleasure of greeting you, hello and welcome here! I have a couple questions for you though. What are you doing or what do you plan to do to distract yourself from smoking? Are you taking a walk, when an urge hits, are you taking along a bottle of water for the urges that hit you while driving in the car? What about using self talk; when it gets real tuff? That when you say: I do not want you, do not need you, I'm not going to have you, so just go away, go away. How about some weight training in the home, dumb bells are small and can handle 60 pounds each if you like. You can start small and work up to what suits you? Hiking, do you or could you enjoy? How about reaching for a celery or carrot stick or striking up a conversation with a co-worker or neighbor. Get these trigger fighter ready and add them to your toolbox. You are going to need this and I mean need this. So tell us the plans you have and lets see if we can help you put together a tool box that is going to work for you. We want you to be successful and we all know you can do it and stick to the quit. So lets get the correct tools for the work that needs to be performed to make each of you a successful quitter.

I have started yoga. I go on Sunday mornings, which seems to underline the end of one week and take me back to the freshness and calmness of a whole new one. I absolutely love it. I also treated myself to a new MP4 player off the money saved as music is just about the best mood enhancing thing ever to me. I bung on the headphones and blast it. I am lucky in a way because I only used to smoke in the garden, so when craves have been really bad, I go out to my chair out there, sip some water, breathe deeply and tune in (or out!). And if all esle fails, keeping busy - doing mindless practical stuff seems to work for me. Good luck and stay strong, stay clam, breathe!
