Hi loves2fish - Thank goodness for your friends, as it sounds like it was them who saved your Quit. So - what about next time? There is a great deal of information here on the site about smoking and drinking. Do a search and read as much as you can. Your Quit is very, very vulnerable and it needs to be protected like an infant child. You must carry your Quit with you, protect it from everything, every situation that could harm it. And it sounds like drinking, for you, is a dangerous place for your Quit to be... I don't know that I would allow a 'next time' until I am stronger in my Quit, I just wouldn't risk it. But as always, it's up to you. Be careful,loves2fish - it sounds like you would have lost your Quit last night had your friends not said 'no'. What about next time? Hi Loves to fish I know just how you feel. My quit was 6/2 and yest I almost slipped also. My problem is that ole demon and how I sneak just one cig thnking no one will know. The difference now is that I cannot sneak from myself and I have promised that before I do light up I must come here first. I managed not to light up and I use NOPE as my savior. It works for me!!! That ole nicodemo tries to feed us with the false nudges that try to get us to give in. We are almost at 30 days and I DO NOT want to start up all over again. Every day is a plus and yes each temptation does make us stronger for tomorrow. Try to avoid the tempatations that you know are difficult and be very proud of your friends for sticking by your side. They are true friends. Hang in There. Don't give up now.....You have done a great job!!!! loves2fish.... Drinking and quitting smoking DO NOT mix. Period. A lot of people lose their quits while out drinking with friends. You were lucky this time. Protect your quit at all costs. it is valuable. You made it through a very difficult, tempting situation. You have good friends. I would have been able to talk my friends into giving me one. I would have said "come on, I haven't had one for a month". Not knowing what quitting smoking requires, my gullible friends would have said, "wow, that is great. I guess one won't hurt". Not realizing that it would be waking up the junkie in me and start the "I WANT ANOTHER ONE NOW" thoughts. You are wise to stay away from the drinking. I don't let myself even ask for a cig. That is the safest thing to do. I even try and stay away from smokers as much as possible. You did GOOD!
