I just reviewed the post regarding "trying" to quit and was pleased that it generated so many replies. It has been 17 years since the only time that I ever really tried to quit. I quit for 2 days and never tried again. About two years ago, one of my nieces asked me if I would just "try" to quit smoking. I don't know why, but I have always remembered this. I kept thinking how can I say that I can't quit smoking when I never even tried. I have known that I wanted to quit smoking for many years but, in all honesty, I didn't plan this quit either...I just did it. To make a long story short, I needed to find the courage to try. I needed to commit to each day one day at a time. Slowly, I have started to experience some of the freedom and to believe that I CAN do this. If I mess up (and not planning on it), I still have the confidence to know that I can quit. I do believe that we need to commit....but before that we need the courage to "try". It's hard....but it is so much worth it.
