So why am I so sleepy, hungry and feel like all my energy is zapped???

This is day 7 for me and I've smoked for 42 years. I don't think my body knows what is going on. I'm excited, frustrated, agigated, hungry very, very sleepy and just tired. Where did all these feelings of being tired and falling asleep just anywhere I close my eyes. I know I'm rambling and I'm sorry, just need help. Oh my gosh! Thank you so much for your answers as you have no idea how releived it has made me. I am so grateful for this place and for each one of you. The first time I tried to quit I thought I was going to kill someone so I threw out my cast iron skillet, this time except for all the other mixed emotions and being tired blended all together my attitude is just thankful.. Reflections! You and your body have been fighting a huge battle this past week. No wonder you are exhausted. I think almost every one of us experiences this during their quit. Congratulations on surviving hell week! I think you should have a well-deserved nap. Your body is definitely going through a major change, and one for the better!!! Be patient, the sleepiness, lack of energy are all so normal. I still get sleepy in the afternoons. But now I also have bursts of energy as well. Drink lots of water to help flush your system. Keep strong and keep posting. There'll be GREAT days ahead. Reflections, You so took me back. I do not want to go back. GOOD NEWS it gets better. You are doing great. Rewards are important. Now that I am past all that hell, heck and blah stuff. Sitting back, closing my eyes is a reward. I love it.Now might be a good time to journal. It does not have to be a long thing. Just jot down so you remember and never go back. WTG Reflections!!! But get that skillet back!! =) This is a normal process so sleep when you can and if you cant, find a quiet place to relax and meditate =) Before you know it, you will be getting enough sleep and jump right out of the bed!! This is an awesome feeling!! From what I understand, the carbon monoxide that the brain has been floating in, is replaced by pure O2 and your brain is getting used to it =) When you get that edgy feeling, run away from the situation. Go to another room, toss your hands up and tell the person that it isnt the right time to discuss the situation, then as you leave the room, tell yourself this: I am a quitter. I do not smoke. I do not want it and I refuse to partake in this. I have found myself saying those words above for this quit. Even when I kids were arguing, I left the room w/ hands / arms in the air, telling them to settle it themselves. I left the situation and ran for cover!! Ok, I ran for some more cheese!! HA! Hi Reflections, All above said is true...lol. I want to say something too. When I quit I was just as sleepy as you were and I was glad about it. I slept and slept and slept. I always say that the sleeping was my resque. It wil go away soon, like all the other things will pass. I smoked for almost 40 years too and I made it to be smokefree. I'm happy about it!!! Bye for now, Fini :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/1/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 179 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,477 Amount Saved: 528.05 Life Gained: Days: 24 Hrs: 15 Mins: 19 Seconds: 1

Hi Reflections and welcome, after 42 years it's normal to feel a mess without it! you body is healing like HealerWithin said. Your body is starting to "function" wihtout it..your heart, your breath, your mind.. they are going back to normal. Don't put them in the hell they were before. you will see how good you will feel soon. It gets easier-with high risk and cravings,of course-but after all you feel WONDERFUL! stay near!! xxx Kate From Greece My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/23/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 34 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 343 Amount Saved: 102 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 10 Mins: 36 Seconds: 56
