Hi Eve thanks for sharing it was inspirational and so true it's hard for a junkie to choose but once you've made the choice you must follow the journey and then realize that your life is much better. Eve, You seem to have got to a stage in your quit where you are not just doing it 'because you should'; you are actually beginning to ENJOY the whole process. I think it's important that new quitters are aware of this; there is a need to see light at the end of the tunnel. I very much doubt that you'll be returning to the 'good ole' days! Choose Air not Ash! When I sit and think about all the times gone by, times of old, and the 'good ole' days, all I feel within my stomach is a smokey cloud of dust and the scent of old ashes filling up my nasal passages. I remember it so vividly it is like being inside a volcano that has erupted but has cooled off and the ash is smoldering everywhere. It stinks. I used to believe I had a really good life, and all I wanted to do was help others be happy. Myself, however, whom I had forgotten about, got swept under the rug for decades while others went on to live happy lives. Without me. I was also living without myself. Time heals for sure, but we have to CHANGE for something to improve. If anything is ever going to be positive in our lives, we have to be the ones to choose it. And not choose it for anyone else BEFORE we choose it for ourselves FIRST. See, we are very important to ourselves, because, well frankly, without ourself, we are not much good to others now are we?? therefore, the self must be put first above and beyond the call of duty for anyone else. When we start to put ourselves first, then we are able to move forward and help others too. But we have to be good to ourelves first. It just doen't work any other way. You come first. Period. So should your quit. It is part of your life change, and best be prepared to embrace it if you are indeed serious about quitting. It is a journey. It is a process. It is an acomplishment. It is an achievement. And we don't get there overnight. There is no "Fly By Night Smoking Remedy." It happens over time. It really does. Many Have come before me to say this. I am merely reflecting their words as the reiterration becomes necessary to those of us who are coming down the pike to see that alot of the way has been paved for us. For that I am very grateful as my eyes are opening more and more, I begin to see what the ones who have come before me were talking about. And I have full joy within the clear understanding of that which they went through because I am now in that place where they once stood, and in full gratitude. Gratitude, to myself though first, for getting me here. Truth be known, the choice has always been yours, 'to smoke or not to smoke', as that is the question you answer alone in your actions when yo
