Dear Anne-Marie,
Thank you for the good idea. I intend to tell him of this sight the next time I see him or maybe sooner.
You are so nice to monitor us and give such smart and uplifting support.
Thank you for being there,
Maria
Maria, why not print out your post and take it to the doctor on your next visit, just like prople print out the Anxiety test?
It sounds like it's something that's due to be on the discussion agenda, since you say you feel ready for it. When you go to the doctor's, you can ask about success rate, and his/her proposed way of taking you off the med. You can also discuss support for that and the timing of such an eventuality. Then again, you're a writer, so I imagine that you brings lists of written questions with you all the time, lol?
I am not a doctor either, so I am not sure. I have heard that withdrawing from some anti-anxiety medications can be a real drag, especially the benzodiazepines, especially if you are using them a lot. I think there is a big debate about whether or not benzodiazepines are "good" or "bad" because of their side effects and potential for addiction.
But...on the other hand...I think there are withdrawal symtpoms from SSRIs too. I think most experts recommend going off any anti-anxiety drug slowly (gradually take less and less), rather than stopping "cold turkey" but I am not sure. Anybody know more about this? I would certainly like to know more about this issue.
Sorry Maria, I am not sure, I am not a doctor.
I am on so many meds, that for me to come off just ONE, I would have to go into hospital so the rest could be adjusted.
Dear Everyone,
Has anyone been successful in withdrawing from their anti anxiety medication? I am so ready to do it. But, of course, am fearful. I would consult with my Doctor, and we have already spoken of it, but, I just don't know. This would be a dream of mine. Any ideas. I know it is alot to ask, but, this is group. ;)
Maria
