Hi Ann, I totally know exactly how you are feeling. My biggest relapse trigger is this emotional thing also. It always gets the best of me, but this time I am trying to point all my anger at the nicodemon, "nic as I call him. Let's kick Nic's butt and show him we are NOT going to tolerate his lies anymore! Hang in there with me, OK? We can do this! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/17/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 2 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 21 Amount Saved: $7.5 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 6 Mins: 45 Seconds: 6

Are you giving yourself daily rewards? Stop on the way home and get an ice cream cone or a slice of pie. Have breakfast for dinner (my kids love that treat). Rent a movie or stop by the library and check out a book...don't like to read? Most libraries carry books on tape (much to my shagrin) Give yourself a guilty pleasure each day for the first week. We all have budgets, they don't have to be expensive pleasures they just have to be guilty or silly pleasures. Make this journey as enjoyable as possible. No one said it was going to be easy but they didn't say we had to be in constant agony either :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/17/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 2 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 95 Amount Saved: $14 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 5 Mins: 31 Seconds: 7

Hey Ann, Day 2 wow! The first three days are absolutely horrid. And they don't call the first week hell for nothing, but hang in there. It gets so much easier so soon. And it is so worth it. Every one that gives in always comes back on here saying it tastes bad (not like it used to) and they are real bummed out. Don't put yourself through that on top of it all. Drink water, breath breath breath! When I get stress I put in a Spa cd and just let it relax me or I go soak in a hot tube. Hey it has been two days, you need a reward. Why don't you go get your self a massage. What a great way for you to learn what is REALLY relaxing (not a smoke, it actually does the opposite of relax you. It increases your heart rate, restrict the arteries) Post as much as you need too, complain as much as you need too, but whatever you do...N.O.P.E. Talullahmay, Take it one day at a time, tommorrow will be better and the next day... Try keeping a quit journal. It will give you a medium in which you can compare how your feeling everyday, you'll notice the day-to-day difference. Keep distractions at the ready and be kind to yourself, meaning spoil yourself rotten! Do whatever lifts your mood and keeps you from smoking. You can do this! Congratulations on another smoke-free day! Danielle _________________________ The SSC Support Team

Talullahmay
have honestly been thinking is it worth all this intensity and emotional turmoil to give up smoking. my biggest relapse trigger is my emotions and wanting to fix my feelings.
I know this is really hard to see from where you stand at this moment but let me assure you it is soooo very, very, very worth it. Ever single bit of agony you are going through right now and every bit of agony you have yet to experience along with all the emotional turmoil that accompanies the quit journey is worth it. Every last bit of it. Oh to be free from NEEDING that cigarette. When I smoked, I was a slave to the cigarette and didn't even realize it until I quit. The junkie thinking controlled every aspect of my life. Where I went, for how long and with whom. Most of the time I spent on my deck by myself. Not any more! I was just like you thinking... Oh is this really worth it. Quitters ahead of me said yes it is! It is worth it. I had made it through a few days so I decided to give it a few more. Then I woke up one morning and realized that I was doing it. I was quitting. I got really excited and proud of myself. My confidence began to grow and I was off on the journey that would change my life in more ways than I could ever imagine. Today I live in a dream world compared to where I was a year ago. So when you say is it worth the intensity and the emotional turmoil... I cannot say enough.. Oh Yes! Stick around and see for yourself. One step at a time, one day at a time. day 2 and im feeling very intense. i can feel my feelings and emotions bubbling away. im having very intense anger, as if im very uptight. things not going my way - no cigarette to take the egde off - so im off to have a nice relaxing bath in a moment. been very intolerant and irritable. i have honestly been thinking is it worth all this intensity and emotional turmoil to give up smoking. my biggest relapse trigger is my emotions and wanting to fix my feelings. really fancied a cigarette about 4 minutes ago - told myself no - im worth more than relapsing, and i will grow and gain strength emotionally. this i shall do one day at a time, being kind to myself and giving myself a pat on the back. for the first time since i joined the group and the many times i have tryed to give up, today was the first time i was really looking forwards to geting on line to read everyones posts and to type mine. thank you all ann My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/18/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 1 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 22 Amount Saved: 4.3 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 2 Mins: 57 Seconds: 28
