I did it!

I did forget to mention that the day started off bad. I woke up from a dream where I was craving smokes and had given in (probably subconscious mind worrying about the weekend). As soon as arrived, I met my brother-in-law having a smoke on the front porch (and I was really thinking I would like one too) By midafternoon (after wedding and before dinner) I really wanted to either crawl upstairs for a nap or borrow their computer for an SCC fix..........but by the end of the day, everything came together. And I did have a good time. Tonight I am a little overtired (and perhaps a little dehydrated) so I know it will be off to bed early. Tks all for the posts! Well...I would not recommend this to everyone because I know that mixing alcohol and cigarettes does not mix. However, I did manage have a great night of drinking wine and socializing with my sister-in-laws. I told them all at the beginning of the night that I had quit smoking and that I might have to go to bed early. At supper, I had one glass of red wine. When I decided to have a second glass, I told them that they had to hold me back if I even thought about smoking. Well...after my 3rd glass, I thought about it, but did not have a mad craving to run out and smoke one. (And the smokers were just out the door only afew yards away) However, I know that I could NOT have done this with a different group of people and I DEFINATELY could not have done it with smokers. This post is not in any way encouraging people to try mixing alcohol with their quit. (With a different set of people, I would never have taken this risk) However, last night did help me realize that there is life after quitting! windy, Of course there is life after quitting! Many quitters or wanna be quitters fail to realize this startling fact! Life is what we make it. That is bottom line. If you believe your life is over when you quit then you will make yourself miserable. If you believe that there is so much more to life than smoking, then you are on your way to a long, fulfilling life without smoking! I do suggest that a new quitter avoid alcohol for the first couple of months. That is just a guideline. Quitting smoking and liquor generally don't mix well. This site is full of sad stories of lost quits when people decided to mix the two. I'm glad you had a good experience. Learn from it and never underextimate the power of this deadly addiction. Best wishes. [b][color=Purple]Be Strong. Be Smart.
