Days 3 & 4 have made me nuts

18 years ago 0 10 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Been coughing alittle the past 2 days -- loose stuff - could that be tar & nicotine ? Oh jeez -I'm so over it - I want a cig sooooo bad - especially in the a.m. with coffee & at nite. I'm dealing with the daytime craves by moving myself - I just get up & move & look around to see what I can do. I always find something, but many times it's food -- trail mix everyday & today I ate a whole lg. can of chicken with mayo on triscuits. I need to get some sucky candies. Yesterday I got my teeth cleaned & that really helped for most of the day -- but gads did I want to smoke last nite !!!!! Thanks for being out there -- your notes are really helping alot ~ ! Hi Debi..................:) Congratulations on getting to day 4......that's fantastic. I am doing the NRT thing with patches and frankly have no idea how I would have gotten to this point without it. I have to take the patch off at night because of seriously vivid......somewhat spooky dreams and that of course leaves me with the first thing in the morning cravings to deal with. To overcome that I pop a half a nicotine lozenger under my tongue until I've showered and put on the patch and that gets me through. Today I am working at ditching the lozenges and just relying on the patches because I don't won't to get to much nicotine and I am going to stickly adhere to the step down thing with the patches. I am absolutely determined to not put on weight as I gave up once and believe it or not went back to smoking because of weight gain........never again on that one. Instead of any form of lolly I use chewable vitamin C tablets (500mg) as a suckable standby, I keep a bunch in my pocket. Tuna is a flamin lifesaver of a food. I have been eating tuna and fat free crackers and cheese for lunch. Like you I love my morning coffee and I know that the association of smoking and drinking coffee and wine can increase the cravings. I am looking at changing to another morning beverage. Hey Debi...................you CAN do this......keep going anyway you possibly can and find diversions as many as you can....:) Thoughts and tons of positive energy Savvvy My Milage: My Quit Date: 9/11/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 9 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 199 Amount Saved: $72 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 3 Mins: 54 Seconds: 57

Debi I know how hard this can be at time, but you're doing great. Are you using any NRT at all? Lots of deep breathing helps, so does walking. There's some good tv shows on, that helps me in the evening. So keep at it and keep posting. You can do this! Gum, gum and more gum did it for me. And I don't even like gum! Seriously, it kept my mouth busy & I couldn't eat while chewing gum. At least it would stave off nibbling for a few hours each day. I was doing so well until you mentioned triscuits with canned chicken. Also great with tuna. But, I am telling you, the BEST is with Mario Black Olive Tapenade, OMG!!!!!! Triscuits alone with a cup of tea, coffee, milk, etc....GOLLY!!!! For right now, Debi, just concentrate on the quit. You and I both will go visit the fat people forum later...okay? NO SMOKING!!!

Debi, Try making changes to your morning and evening routine. Find an alternative to smoking, make sure it's something you love and are interested in. It may take a few tries before it becomes routine, but a change may do you good. Danielle _______________________ The SSC Support Team

Way to go. Doing what you need to do to stay quit. Finding what works and working it. As Marie says One day at a time. And as Rusty says tomorrow will be better. Debi, sometimes I think the tobacco companies designed the cigarettes so that certain days are extra hard. But you're not going to let THEM control your life, are you? Just do whatever you have to do to get through...you will find that tomorrow will be better. Just hang in there! You're doing great!
