Fear of Arobics re: Mitral Valve Prolapse MVP

I know, as I have to take antibiotics also. So the bacteria go to the weak spots...like my pericardium. My question is have you seen a dr about the exercise question? I really think each one of us is different, and nothing is acceptable in this instance xcept a physician's advice who knowx the patient. I won't scrimp on healthcare advice, as it izs life or death when it comes to the heart. Maybe I am paranoid, so let's ask Anne-Marie??!! Red

Good Afternoon, The correlation between bacteria in the 'mouth/teeth/gum and 'mitral valve' is this: that 'mouth/teeth/gum' bacteria cling to the valve of the heart as they circulate through the heart and is more apt to cling to the 'mitral' valve - Maria :)

Hi Guys What is the story with bacteria/dental work? Who has to be careful and who doesn't. I know that people with major congenital heart problems (and diabetes?) need to be careful throughout their lives....but what about the rest of us. My dentist seems pretty sure that there is alink between bacteria and heart problems...but then again...he seems to make a lot of money by selling me on all kinds of stuff that I may or may not need ... Whats the science? I wish I knew more.

Yes, I do worry about it a bit. I have had a feeling for the past few months I should go see a cardiologist, if nothing else but to have another 'echo' to see how my prolapse is doing. This has been on my mind, but, does not cause me any 'additional' anxiety. I have noticed that when I do not take my medication the first place the panic 'raditates' from, for a lack of a better work, is from my chest area. The last time I had an 'echo' the doctor said my MVP did not require medication - I think it does, only becasue of the bacteria/dental issue - I must always pre-medicate before any dental work. Oh well. Bye for now, Maria

Yes, I have had to be that way when I had to learn to walk again. The alternative was to live there forever.

Spiritual healing is something that always ortifies me, strengthens me to face my fears, rather than avoid. It gives me the courage to go forth each day and do what I want to do. It is a purifying experience for me..How about you? Does it do for you what it does for me?

Maria, It was explained to me by a cardiologis, that taking the antibiotics helps to insure that any infection from mouth won't go directly to heart. And it will, if left unchecked. MrBubble, welcome back. MVP or any affliction of the heart is a very shakey thing. We worry, even panic with regard to having a problem in this area. I know that I do, do you Maria?

Hi All My understanding is that MVP isn't associated with any real medcial danger. I don't have MVP but my understanding is that it must make the experience of panic even worse. Is that right? My guess is that it makes "leaning into fear" even harder. Unfortunately, I have found that "leaning into fear" and challenging avoidance is all that works for me.
