Sparky This is my first post for anything, i joined up because i was looking for a way to quit, everyone is right by saying "when you are sick of smoking you will quit" the question is are you sick of it yet? I still have cravings 72 days into it, but i fight through each one, the only time i get a strong one is stressful times, but now i find other things to do. but i do not think that is what you want to hear, right now, if you have not had a cig in 2 days, you feel just like the first post wrote that you need to cry,be angry, find someone just to be mean to, spit fire, cry somemore, whatch a movie that makes you cry laugh and be angry, then smile at the end of the 8-10hour day and say I DID IT!!!!! smell something, taste something, then find what will help you through the next five minutes, 20 minutes, 60 minutes half a day, a full 24 hours, and stick with that, i checked back in with my glove compartment in a week and saw 7 days w/o saved$$$ 11.75, that kept me going. now i look at it and smile real big a go buy me something with that money. keep trying and fight through the ugliness we all have been through, the best is the breathe you take that you can actually taste the trees, flowers, the air. stay strong i think everyone here is pulling for you My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/26/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 72 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,232 Amount Saved: $251.28 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 19 Mins: 58 Seconds: 47

Sparky, there's nothing wrong with you ( well I don't know you but) anyway it's normal to be intimidated by just the mere thought of quitting. Have you worked the tools on the left, done the dependency test and the motivation test? This site is a gold mine of information use it, it helps. And I hope you decide to fight the good fight one day at a time . See you soon :)Marie My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 85 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,281 Amount Saved: $340 Life Gained: Days: 11 Hrs: 6 Mins: 17 Seconds: 29

What is wrong with me? I just can not get a handle on this!!! I want to quit, but I guess - I don't know - I have set the 9th as my next quit. I have a friend that is going to quit that day, maybe we can help each other. I feel like such a ------. You guys are great and a few of you are so special. I hope with all my heart that you continue with your quits. Thanks. There is not much more to say - I messed up again. Sparky Oh I feel for you! I quit and then I really quit and then I had to quit. I couldn't breath and smelled bad and on and on. I was so frightened and fed up with what smoking was doing to me I just quit. I planned for a while and implemented a program and quit. Lady is right on. When you want to quit more than you want to smoke you will quit. Get really motivated and if you need get angry at the tobacco. Educate yourself about the whyles of an addiction that can be more diffucult to kick than heroin or cocaine. Prepare yourself for something tough and set your mind to win a battle that is ultimately for your life. Keep on keeping on. If you and your friend can support one another and that works do it. If talking to your doctor about an NRT or wellbutrin or other aids and that works do it. If coming here and venting and moaning (like I do) works for you do it. Find a way, work a program and keep quit. Work what works learn from every quit in the past and use all of your knowledge. Set the 9th and let us all know and we will be there to cheer you on and offer whatever help of support we can give. Sparky... Guess What? You are in good company. I know I quit a thousand times before I got it right. Finally, I was sick of smoking. I had had enough! I decided I just wasn't going to do it anymore. Now let me tell you what this brought on.... I cried, I screamed, I yelled, I through tantrums, I stayed in bed, I stayed in the pity pot, I shut my door at work and worked with tears falling all over the place. I walked. I stretched. I drank water and sucked on peppermint. I took deep breaths. I said mean things to people. I felt sorry for myself. I hated my life. I hated me. BUT I DID NOT SMOKE! No matter what, I kept telling myself that as long as I didn't light that next cigarette, I was going to be fine. I took it five minutes at a time because one day at a time was just too much for me. You can do it too Sparky. One step at a time. Get determined, get ticked off at the addiction that controls you and refuse to let it control you any longer.
