Hi Serenity, I have no fantastic advice to give you on this depression I'm afraid, since this, as you already know, is something all us quitters have to fight against, day by day. What I do have, though, is a great deal of sympathy for you in what must be a difficult situation made more difficult by the nicotine withdrawal. Well done for not reaching out for the cigarettes!!! Having a cigarette, as you know, would make no ounce of difference to the reality of what's happening. Times of change are always difficult for us creatures of habit! I find that I am sometimes plunged into depression one day, only to wake in a much more positive light the next. The old adage, 'one day at a time' is possibly a boring one to quote here - but I find it true... I'm having a good day today, so far - get in touch if you need me!!! You have myself and everyone else in this support group to lean on. Thank you guys. I am very, very moved by what I've read here. And Danielle, thanks for posting from a daughter's perspective - that bit really helped too. Today has been the closest I have come to just buying a pack. If I could have bought one single one, I would have. I have just been so, so down. Think I might head off and try some St John's Wort tomorrow as that has helped me in the past. And I like the idea of a journal. I might make that my "reward" for this week. I know it would have been hard and I would have got the blues at some point just now anyway. Just trying to tell my brain the fags have nothing to do with it. Hoping tomorrow is better. And thanks. You are all that kept me smoke fre today. Yes hi Marie, thanks for asking. I am fine - and didn't give in on the cigs. I stayed up very late on my depressed day - took me that long to get my act in gear. Did lots more packing and cleaning the house up and woked up yesterday feelings much brighter. And did some more packing up/clearing out. This morning I had my yoga class and that has me feeling very tranquil. It is weird, because most of the time this "quit" feels so easy I can't quite believe it. Then I just get HUGE urges to go and buy a packet of fags, where two minutes before, all was well. I am doing fine though. Thanks to everybody for your support. God - could I cry much more than I have done last night and this morning? I am soon to leave the small town I have been bringing my kids up in for almost 11 years. Not far - I mean my daughter will still go to the same school, but neither of us really wants to leave here (though I don't tell her that.) We are moving to a smaller house that is in not as nice an area and needs a LOT doing. We will have less money. I am about to start a new job next week - one that I don't particularly want but have to for the money. My elder daughter leaves home for Uni around 4 days after our house move. And that feels worse than losing ANY relationship in my life so far. She has been so close, such a help, so much fun. Though again, I don't tell her how bad I am finding it. I can't imagine our home and our days without her there. And to top it all, I have "lost" my fags as well. Not really craving as such, just "miss" them. My junkie voice is talking to me telling me that that is one loss, one change too many. And I am very, very sad. How many days to get past this blip? Thanks for listening to my "woe is me" voice today! Thanks Maarie. I've a feeling that for me, the 3rd week and into the 4th are going to be the toughies! I start my new job on wednesday, we move house a week on Tuesday and my elder leaves home for Art School a week on Friday!!!!!!! If I can get through those, well, will it GET much more stressful???! LOL. Aim to start at a local slimming group once those things are out the way as was overweight to start with and can FELL the pounds circling around my thigs just waiting to jump aboard.
