I remember in 1978 ( wow a long time ago) I worked in a dental clinic and we would smoke at reception, patients would smoke in the waiting room ( incredible) I remember visiting at the hospital and we would smoke in the patient's room. To the yougnsters on the site this will seem incredible. Back then we were unaware of the danger and addiction of the cigarette. Only the cigarette companies knew and probably the government. Gonna, mothers always feel guilty, that's part of who we are. Don't look back you're not going that way... someone on this site wrote that and I think it's so true. :)Marie My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 98 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,478 Amount Saved: $392 Life Gained: Days: 12 Hrs: 23 Mins: 49 Seconds: 24

I just heard on the news that a new study has tied ADHD with tobacco smoke exposure before birth (as well as lead exposure). I find that interesting...2 of my 5 children were diagnosed ADHD and another as bipolar. With these children I smoked during pregnancy. My oldest I quit while pregnant and the youngest I cut down drastically. The three I smoked heavily with while pregnant fall into this category. If that doesn't give young smoking mothers something to think about... :confuse: I wish I had never smoked....I also wished I had been armed with all the information I have now. However, I am not sure that would have made a difference........how SAD......

Oh, I'm not looking back, just reflecting. I'm not down on myself...those were different times...Why, we even had smoking areas in high school back then! I just found the study interesting and could apply my own situation to validate their study even further.

gonnadoit- As Josie said - let the past go... We have so much power in the present - and what we can do regarding the past, is learn the lessons. Be gentle w/yourself, dear one... Give YOU the compassion you give others. Moving on is such an important lesson for many of us on the Quit journey, friend. Stay focused and strong - and protect your Quit w/everything you have (and love yourself through the process!)... Sending Blessings- Healer My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 198 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,953 Amount Saved: $920.7 Life Gained: Days: 25 Hrs: 18 Mins: 21 Seconds: 38
