What Do You Do With The Money You're Saving?

17 years ago 0 140 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
As of now, I have saved about $ 400 by not smoking. Wow - it adds up fast. I spent this money on a shiny new gas bbq. Since I needed to buy a bbq anyway, and would have even if I was still smoking, I consider it FREE! My next stash of savings (although I sort of already spent it) is going towards my new Saucony running shoes! Very spiffy! These kind of tangible incentives are very rewarding for me. I also know that the whole neighbourhood is now safe, because the only thing smoking around here will be my burgers and steaks on the back deck! How about you? sushik My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/31/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 44 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,123 Amount Saved: $396 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 8 Mins: 56 Seconds: 48

    Cigarettes Not Smoked

Hi Sushik- These posts are great!! I was a heavy smoker so I`ve got more cash in the last 18 days than I can imagine---did I really spend that much on THEM????????????/???? WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now, even tho` Im going on holiday to Turkey on Monday, I am doing something proffesional with all my cash. I have an interest only mortgage on my house and Im putting all my cash into an ISA account and I`m gonna pay a lump sum each year off my 140k and bring it down that way. Then my interest payment will decrease each year and I will be totally in charge of my finances. What do you think about that then? :) N2K! I have bought clothes, got my hair done, went to the dentist and got the nicotine stains removed from my teeth.. and I am saving for Cyprus. (I know - I only had just over 200)... lol But I can have a fiver in my pocket and its still there days later, i find THAT AMAZING, its like magic. Because most things I buy in the shops are less than a fiver.. I feel like supermarkets are giving me stuff for free.. they arent, of course, but it sure feels like that :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/12/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 33 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 833 Amount Saved: 247.5 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 22 Mins: 32 Seconds: 31

I like this post! I proudly display in my stats that I have 'saved' 1000 plus ($1700). Where is it? The answer is outside in my garden. I have transformed an overgrown wasteland into a beautiful place! Sure I've spent lots of money on it, but I can think of how I would have wasted this money 6 months ago. And you new quitters - this is the best bit! When I started doing this at the beginning of my quit, it was to keep myself busy as I toughed it out. I do this now because I LOVE IT! And I don't have to stop every 45 minutes or so to fill my lungs with carcinogenic chemicals A happy smoke-free weekend to you all! This is a great way to validate your quit and start up some really good rewards. Remember rewards don't always have to be costly, but some of the nice ones are worth every penny! Josie ______________________ The SSC Support Team.
