THANKS EVERYONE FOR THE CHEER UPPERS! LADY, YOU ARE SO RIGHT. MY POOR HUBBY IS GETTING THE BRUNT OF IT! HE ASKED ME THE OTHER DAY WHY I WAS BEING SO MEAN, HAHA. I TOLD HIM I WAS SORRY AND THAT I WAS HAVING A BAD WEEK. I ALSO TOLD HIM HE WAS THE ONLY ONE AROUND SO HE WAS THE ONE THAT WAS GONNA HAVE TO TAKE THE BRUNT OF IT! HE LAUGHED, AND TOLD ME HE HOPED I WAS GONNA BE OFF THIS MEAN KICK SOON. ITS A FEW DAYS LATER. LOCKED MY WORK KEYS IN CAR WHILE IT WAS RUNNING, (IM A POLICE OFFICER) WAS ABOUT 30 MINUTES FROM THE OFFICE SO HAD TO WAIT IN HEAT AND KNATS FOR THEM TO BRING ME EXTRA KEY. GOT BACK AND WENT TO LUNCH. HAD ENOUGH TODAY, LOL. IT CAN ONLY GET BETTER! Just a thought. It takes 21 days to make or break a habit. Iknow nic is an addiction but it is also a habit. So around that time the addiction/habit fights for survival. To quote a brillant lady(FREE) "When the junkie pokes his head out of the closet, quickly turn and slam his head in it." hey pepperment stay with it between 20 and 35 days i have noticed on this sight that people have a really hard time (some do not all) so keep going at it just don't smoke and see what the next day brings. maybe it is something other then not smoking and you are thinking it is the smoking. I am thinking about you and hoping you got the big guns out heidi My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/18/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 14 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 298 Amount Saved: $55.72 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 11 Mins: 42 Seconds: 33

A lot of people have experienced this around the month mark, maybe you're just early. Have you been rewarding yourself? Hope you feel better. I CAN RELATE!!! Welcome Peppermint! This is my second go-around since May. I am also a police officer! :) An internal affairs detective in a medium-size town in Tennessee. I cannot IM (my office does not allow and home computer is ancient) but, if you want my e-mail address, just let me know. I went about 75 days the last quit and am giving it another go---Hubby has successfully quit and he is a police lieutenant with a traffic unit here. It gets easier, just don't fall victim to the nicodemon---he is lurking around the corner just waiting for a moment of vulnerability. How he escapes the most wanted felony offenders, I'll never know! ;) Best of Luck!

Peppermint, Some members have found it helpful to keep a journal. It provides them an outlet for their emotions good or bad. Feel better soon, keep persevering! Danielle _______________________ The SSC Support Team

Peppermint the emotions you are experiencing are perfectly normal for this stage of the quit. Be good to yourself. You are still going through a lot. Take time to think before you speak. I found myself apologizing a lot during this stage of the quit. You control your attitude. You are doing a great job. Refuse to give in to the junkie thinking. Things will get so much better. Hang on tight.
