Well done! My husband and I stopped 6 days ago, so we're new to it all. We go through it in different ways... But I found that reading and posting here makes all the difference! It really helps.
Congratulations and keep strong!

Hi all. Last Saturday after browsing around here for a couple of weeks, I ended up stopping smoking Last Saturday in the middle of the day. This was d/t to taking a quiz and realizing 26 yrs had somehow passed since that first cig. My husband stopped on Sunday. Well, I won't say its easy and he is a real GRUMP, but we are doing it and we are excited about doing it. The parents of 7 kids, we are looking at children leaving the nest now. We have ages 10-25. We want to retire early, but our health had really started to show the beating. I want to travel and enjoy life and not die of lung dz. So, Thanks for all the posts for letting me read and feel united with so many people dealing with the same thing. Most of all, thanks for showing me people around here make it and make it for years!

It's better to be a non-smoker with an occasional desire for a cig than a smoker with a constant desire to quit......

If you can raise 7 kids~ you CAN quit smoking. Welcome fateskid!
Congratulations to you and your husband on your decision to live longer.
Ya know, when smoke is inhaled, nicotine is carried deep into the lungs, where it is absorbed quickly into the bloodstream and carried throughout the body. You should be concerned about your health because nicotine affects many parts of the body, including your heart and blood vessels, your hormonal system, your metabolism, and your brain. I once read that nicotine can even be found in breast milk and in cervix mucous secretions of smokers. The good news is you are quitting and the health benefits of quitting smoking are numerous. Read about it when you get time. The more you know the better off you'll be.
All the best~

wow fate, 7 children??? That is wonderful! And so much work. Congratulations on making this life changing decision. You and your hubby should talk it out...talk about how quitting is affecting you, how you feel, how you are going to cope during stressful times. Try and help each other. You can do it.
