I feel like a loser...

This post is really quite scarey. I thought i had worked through everything that could cause me to relapse, just the thought of tomorrow smoking all day every day is just too much to think of and puts me off. I read this thread, and thought ooooh nicotine free, then if i was out on a weekend like this weekend, I could have smoked those just for the night and not smoke the next day, as i wouldnt have put nicotine back into my body therefore wouldnt be technically smoking again. Sigh... that relapse is always a little bit closer than you think. Damn the tobacco companies. Proud to be smoke and nicotine free. Thanks for the responses. I meant to say I quit May 23, not June. The cigarettes are called Quest and there are three steps, each lower in nicotine. I went to my old spot to buy smokes and the owner, who knew I had quit, told me those were the only ones he would sell me. The lowest was what I bought with .05 per cig. Anyway, I left them hidden in my office this afternoon and did not take them home with me (I did smoke one more---up to five now). On my way home I stopped by a park and said a little prayer---I usually tell people I am agnostic. I don't really practice, but I'm the first person on my knees when the $*#@ hits the fan---and today seemed like a good day. Had a little cry, came home, and as soon as I sign off of here I am making a very stiff Jack and coke to drink while I take a long bath and then I am going straight to bed. Tomorrow is a new day and I willbe okay---I think. I'll let you know. Thanks again for the support. You have no idea how much it means to me! I quit smoking June 23 and had been doing sooo well. Using the patch and wellbutrin. When I went to a lower dose on the patch I had a minor slip. Then today, for some reason, I went and bought nicotine-free cigarettes and smoked four. I feel like a loser because I know I am just a hair away from going back to smoking and I keep fighting myself justifying it. My husband quit with me and he has had no slips and does not know about my recent slip. He quit because of MY health and I'm the one cheating...HELP!!!

Nicotine Free Cigarettes still have tar in them which lead to lung cancer. Do not buy into junkie thinking ... there is no such thing as a healthy cigarette. Hurstk- Break time down to minutes, make it all smaller so you can handle it. Make sure to download the SSC messenger - there is normally someone around here and on the messenger if you need help (I am on messenger now). Rather than looking at yourself as 'cheating' let's start brand new today. Make a new commitment to your Quit, to your health, make this a brand new start. Stop looking back :) And we are here - you can do this - one moment at a time :) If you feel you need more help/support, IM me on the SSC messenger. hurstk - Like Rusty said - lose those cigarettes... If they are there, well you know the rest. It's time to focus or re-focus... Why did you decide to Quit? Did you do the program on the left? Stop, focus, and get grounded. NO SMOKING. No need to beat up on yourself - just stay strong and NO SMOKING... The only way to Quit is N.O.P.E. (not one puff ever). Let us know how you're doing and make sure to read new and old posts here, that will support you. hurstki, Hang on girl. You don't really want to go back to smoking. Get rid of the nicotine free cigs (didn't know they existed..clove cigs have plenty of nicotine). Get in bed and go to sleep for a while. Calm yourself, meditate. Recite your reasons for quitting. You can get through this if you really want to quit smoking. It is a choice.
