Hello Bean!!! Join the club - I think we all have had a hunger increase when we quit smoking. Another thing I think .... we probably closed every meal with a cigarette and since we don't do that any more we don't feel our meal is finished. Guess I'm speaking for myself because after all this time sometimes after dinner a still feel a little crave. I have gained weight but that's better than smoking. Good luck in your quit. You are just exiting what is considered the roughest part of the quit. Pay special attention to your bag of coping tools now. Reinforce your effort my considering the dangers of smoking. A suggestion would be to look up the Australian Governmental web site on quitting. Therein you can click on SmokeScreens and get the scare of your life about our organs and nicotine. Good luck. Cigarettes Not Smoked

Bean, Almost all smokers notice this. You may tend to eat more than you used to. Your body's absorption of food is improved as well, so you will gain more nourishment even if you don't eat more. How long will this last? The first few weeks after quitting. Tips to help: Try low calorie snacks or beverages and lots of water. If you have a symptom that persists or seems worse than you expected, you should immediately consult a doctor. Its possible that your smoking has been masking symptoms of some illness, and when you stop smoking the symptoms abruptly become noticeable.
