I need to calm down...help!

18 years ago 0 80 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
I've been reading, reading, reading, and I realize looking back how many times I've tried this and fallen down. I'm a little shaken...faith in myself is shaken. Tomorrow is firm...no worries there. Just feeling like a huge failure looking back over the last year. How often did I fail to follow through when I made the decision in the past? My self-esteem's taking a beating here. Words of wisdom??? :( My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/20/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 0 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 0 Amount Saved: $0 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 0 Mins: 0 Seconds: 0

I have just stepped over the threshold and closed the door behind me. I just smoked my last cigarette....ever. I know, I know, don't focus on forever. Focus one day at a time, or one hour, or one of yoda's milliseconds if that's what it takes. Thank you so much...all of you, for making me feel so supported, and for making me wonder how I could be feeling so isolated with so many loving and giving people just a few keystrokes away. I will stay close to the site. Knowing you are all there is so much help. Newbkr, stay out of the past and out of the future :) Stay in the moment :) Sleep tight, tomorrow's the beginning of your new fresh clean life. Enjoy your last cig and do some kind of ritual to say good bye to them forever :) We're all here with you. Close your eyes, breath deep & say a little prayer :) No matter what don't lite up... Keep on keepin on... You are at the crossroads girl. You have made some decisions and your life has been hell. Don't get mad at me or "shoot the messenger" but smoking has little to do with your life at this point other than to be another focus point. I am going to put in here some things that I posted a long time ago and I hope that they will be of some confort to you. Depending on what stage we are in our lives, we can sometimes feel like we ought to know more about who we are or how to live. We may even berate ourselves for making the same mistakes, or for just not "getting it," whatever "it" may be. We wonder how our lives would be now, if only we had "known better." During moments like these, it is important to remember that none of us are born with instruction manuals and that learning lessons is a lifelong journey. Inherent to our being born is that we are here to observe, learn, and grow. Accompanying this is a built-in guarantee that there will be mistakes and misadventures along the way. And while it is only natural that we may sometimes become overwhelmed, especially when the lessons keep coming, it is important to remember that learning to understand yourself and your world is an ongoing and active process where the journey is more important than the destination. Every lesson is intended so you can become more of who you are. And as you grow through this self-discovery, you begin to create your own instruction manual. The "how's" and "why's" are yours to discover, and part of the beauty of being alive is that these rules are always changing. If you feel that you would like to explore what your personal instruction manual may already say, then try writing down in order some of the significant events that have happened to you. It's also important to take note of what you learned from each one. When you are done, you may be surprised to discover how much you are always growing, and that every lesson learned always informs the next. That being said, there is never any need to be hard on yourself or think that you should have it all figured out. We always know as much as we're meant to know at that moment, and growing into our fullness is a process that unfolds in divine timing. You and your life are beautiful works in progress. Discover yourself and embrace y

quit dwelling on the negative and pick up the positive thread....the past means only that you slipped....can you possibly see the "how and why" of those slips?? That's what is important about them. The "FUTURE" is what counts. In dwelling on the slips and so called failures you play right into the control of the addiction ie,>the woe is me, what is the use, I always fail thinking. You are still letting your addiction do the thinking....... GET POSITIVE....there is NO reason you can't manage to quit. Get that in your head...it's just 'choosing and commiting to the choice'. Try to separate what YOU want from what your addiction wants.....then stick with yourSELF Katy My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/4/2002 Smoke-Free Days: 1477 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 59,093 Amount Saved: $8123.5 Life Gained: Days: 192 Hrs: 16 Mins: 44 Seconds: 57
