June-Bug Check up

Stoppin and Den, Tell us how your second day is going. Andy, what Josie said, sounds right. At least you get waves of optimism. That's a good thing. Mama glad you're feeling better. Excercise seems to help get the frustration out. Zazz good advice. Hope you are well- as well as you can be in Heck week. Aekvall, so now it's been a full week for you. COngratulations! Okay June Bugs, I can, officially, join. I went to the store and slapped on a patch. I have lollipops to substitute for cigs when the urge to suck somthing hits. I threw my cigs in the trash, but I am thinking of grabbing them out and breaking them one by one. Also, have a huge glass of water to start the flushing of all the toxins, besides nicotene from my system. My sis told me on Saturday, that if I do this, she will never smoke in my house again,,, we'll see. THat would be nice. So I am kind of an interloper here, tried to quit in May, didn't make it. I hope you don't mind me joining the June Bugs. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/12/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 0 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 0 Amount Saved: $0 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 0 Mins: 0 Seconds: 0

Mama, that happened to me before when I tried to quit. It sucks! Sorry, but it does. One of my relatives did the same thing. Well, tomorrow is my first day. This will be my third serious attempt. I didn't make it to the store to get patches and I know this will be a problem. I, usually, smoke 6 digs in the morning, between waking up and getting to work. My plan is to take a shower, immediately, upon awaking. That takes care of 2 cigs right there. Then I am thinking about smoking 1 and lying about it.........nope, won't do that, got to kick the hell out of this thing...... I have lollipops left over from a prep 2 weeks ago. Maybe, I'll turn to that. All I really know is my physical and mental addiction is off the charts. There is a store close by to my work- opens at 8AM. As soon as I can, I'll get there for a patch. I have to break the mental addiction first. I know this b/c I was a tiny bit successful before with the patch. Hey Mama I really feel for you. Try not to be angry with your Mom. She is truly suffering. My heart goes out to her. Remember, we do better, when we know better. I never get craves now, but I think that is because I used the Commit lozenge for a couple of weeks, then I kept a few for panic crave insurance. I havent needed them, but Im sure I could have panicked and smoked if I hadnt had a back up plan. Anyway, hang in there. If I can do it, anyone can. (too bad one can't edit here) I just wanted to add..... I dont believe your Mom and daughter want you to smoke. I believe they wish they had your strength of conviction. Like you, I dont have a significant other for support, but I did not let that stop me. I dont need others to be proud of me. I need me to be proud of me. Hang in there. You will do this My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/7/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 66 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,998 Amount Saved: $346.5 Life Gained: Days: 8 Hrs: 1 Mins: 1 Seconds: 11

Mamma, I Ditto on Shevie's post - Nobody has the right to smoke in YOUR car - not even mom. Mutual respect for each other is the way it is now that you are an adult yourself. Go Mamma and protect that quit like nothing else!!! CobenFan P.S. GO JUNE BUGS!!!!! Hi Mama, You've made a great decision to be a non-smoker. We are all very proud of you. Feeling sorry for yourself may just be the evil nicotine monster :eg:talking. If you want to feel sorry for yourself for awhile-go ahead, crawl into bed, pull the covers up and don't do a damn thing. We are nicotine addicts and the nicotine demon will try anything to keep its nasty claws on us so it can drag us down into that dark smelly hole.Don't let it! I took lots of deep breaths, drank alot of water and chewed lots of sugarless gum(big wads sometimes). I am loving being a non-smoker :p!! My car and house smell CLEAN. I don't feel like a second-class citizen hiding in the shadows so that I can grab a cigarette when I'm out and about in public. I'm not tapping my foot at the movie theather wondering when I can finally get outside for a smoke. I'm not wondering if the person I'm talking to can smell the stale stink of cigarettes on my breath and clothes. Make sure you work the program at the left and keep those reasons for quiting close at hand so that you can refer to them as often as you need to. Sometimes I catch myself thinking- Hey I do not smoke and I'm amazed...I smoked for over 35years.I learned another thing on this great site that helped me - N.O.P.E.-Not One Puff Ever. I know that even if I'm feeling strong, I cannot take one puff on a cigarette. I will not tempt myself.I choose to live and be a non-smoker!! There's a hug, Trudy ;p My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/21/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 83 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,924 Amount Saved: $248.17 Life Gained: Days: 9 Hrs: 3 Mins: 3 Seconds: 22

Hi all this is my first day not smoking. Wow head games are full force. Am trying welbutrin but just 1 per day. So far so good although this isn't very far, its a start which is more than I had yesterday. Does anyone else get nervous and very short with people or is it just me. Best of good fortune to us all. Welcome Ann! I am glad that you are better today...we gotta take this one second at a time. Closing my eyes, breathing in slowly and letting out even slower and saying the word "nice" really is helping when I am feeling that icky nag of addiction. What is helping all of you through the rough spots?
