I had the laser treatment, too. It kept me very calm, when I started to crave, but eventually I started smoking again. We need to see all the treatments as aids to acting on our WILL. No panacea for quitting exists. I did, however, read about a pill recently approved by the FDA for smoking cessation. Welcome,DTQ Don't think about when the thoughts of smoking will stop. Just put one foot in front of the other and do a day, an hour, a minute at a time where you don't smoke. Have you done the program at this site? It will strengthen your resolve and educate you about what to expect when you are giving up nicotine. Enjoy your freedom today! BF - I was TOTALLY kidding. I forget that dry humor doesn't always translate well in email or forums. My bad. The sad thing is that I actually re-worded it a couple times so that I was sure it sounded like a joke! Too much thinking I think. You are an asset to the site with all your kind words and encouragement. You're fast approaching 3 weeks too! With the positive attitude you have I'm certain this is it for you... Again, sorry for the confusion! Sandra

Ummm Breaking Free - Are you gonna follow me around the site tonight quoting little bits of my posts? I just noticed a couple of other posts where this happened...not that I mind. I'm actually headed to the Stats Parade if you want to come along. I'll try to think of something inspired to say ;) **WARNING** This is called "highjacking" a post to state things completely unrelated to the original poster's topic. Avoid this practice whenever possible. D2Q, Great name btw. Welcome and congrats on joining us in the best decision you've ever made ;) The thoughts about smoking will last for a while. I remember feeling that I was mentally challenged for the first few weeks because it was like I was on a loop of thinking, "Oh, now I can have a cigarette. Oh wait...no, I don't smoke anymore." Over and over and over again. The good thing was that I then realized just how much smoking had taken over my life, my time and my thoughts. I'm free of all that now and you will be too. Here is a post called When Will it Stop? or something very close to that that grandma referred to earlier. It gets better and the view from the other side is TREMENDOUS! DTQ, Welcome to our support community and please take a look around. The program and its tools will help you through your journey. The online support group will assist you with questions, concerns and support. It is not an easy road and there is no actual date when you will stop thinking about, but it will lessen over time :) Let us know how we can help, Keep Strong, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
