Mama I don't think I have ever had a 3 min craving. I know everyone's quit is different and if everyone else had cravings that only lasted for 3 minutes I want to know how. I had those kill me now all day cravings myself. Keep breathing. You are doing the right things. Read your reasons, say NOPE over and over again, Scream at the nicodemon and tell him this is your life now and he can't have it back. Exercise, take a shower, go to bed early. Post, post, post and read, read, read. That is exactly what I had to do to get through those first few weeks of quitting. It does get better. Unfortunately it doesn't happen overnight. Go look at yourself in the mirror and say "I am doing this!" You have a week under your belt. Bet you never thought you would have that! Look at you! You are kicking butt here. A full week smoke free. Smile. You are doing great and you are doing everything right. Kick, scream, fight, cry, break dishes... whatever it takes. Just don't smoke. Goodnight Mama My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/1/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 341 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,838 Amount Saved: $1193.5 Life Gained: Days: 30 Hrs: 3 Mins: 13 Seconds: 31

Good for you for being able to identify the source of the crave, Mama. Craves are triggered mostly by memeory associations between events and smoking. Every time we get through an event we would have previously smoked in without smoking, that association is weakened. Eventually, the link will be broken, the association will become extinct, and a crave will not be triggered again. Sometimes this happens on the first episode, sometimes it takes more than one, but extinction will happen. Since you got through this event smoke-free, you are now another step closer to freedom, Mama. That's fantastic! :) Keep up the good quit! Mama, that three-minute crave thing is a bogus bunk! It's right up there with only taking three days to break the habit because that's when all the nicotine is out of your system. It's all just a very fragrant load, probably created by people who have never smoked, lol. Just keep in mind that, no matter how bad they are or how long they last, they are temporary and smoking will just prolong them. You really don't want to start this all over, do you? :) Congratulations on getting through hell week, especially since it included devil's day. :8o: Keep up the good quit, Mama. You really are doing great! Mama, You passed wonderfully! You used distraction and avoidance to throw that crave to the curb! Keep doing this and use coping mechanisms to help keep those craves at bay :) Keep Strong, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
