I'm very proud of myself

Thanks everyone. I feel like I'm really internalizing this quit. I've only half-heartedly tried before, and only last about a day. Pathetic I know lol. But it's because I didn't have this attitude that I have now. I didn't have these tools, and I think I believed that cigs actually helped me cope. Now I know that it's me who copes with things, not the nicotine. :)

Last night I was called out of my house to deal with a situation of violence at my parent's home. This kind of thing has happened before, where I an thrown between them and stay up all night, and it's always stressful. Well, last night I revealed to my Mom (early) that I had quit. The whole night was so stressful, and she was chain smoking, and all I could think of was having a smoke. But thanks to you guys, I had so many tools to correct myself. I kep repeating, A cigarette will NOT make this better. And I kept thinking NOPE, NOPE, NOPE. I did the breathing exercises and walked away when I had to. I want to thank you all for the knowledge that you so freely share. It makes a huge difference. I know I wouldn't have been able to get through last night without the tools you've all shared, and without knowing that I could come here and get kudos when I succeeded! Thanks so much! I can really begin to feel my quit becoming a part of me.

Congratulations, Raine! I'm very proud of you for being able to handle that stress without a cigarette, and doubly proud for it being while someone else was chain smoking. I'm still two weeks out from my quit date, but you give me hope that I can handle stress, even extreme stress like that without reaching for a smoke. Thank you for your wonderful example.

Rainne, You passed a very difficult test and we're all so proud! Isn't it nice to be able to rely on yourself for strength instead of a cigarette? Keep up the good work! Danielle _______________________________ The SSC Support Team

Rainne It's true isn't it?? Cigs did not cure stressful situtations, we were brain washed into thinking they did. Well done you have passed a huge test in our first couple of days, take this strength with you as you carry on with your new life. Rainne, You're proud of yourself ... and so you should be!!! Use last night's incident as a weapon in your armoury. In other words, when you get cravings, remind yourself that you beat the Nicodemon when you were in a difficult and stressful situation, so you can be that strong at other times. ... and I've got the feeling that this is the start of one big successful quit!!!
