Hi everyone, My name is Darcy and I have been smoking since the age of 13 and I will be 40 in October. I have had bronchitis for the past two weeks and yesterday morning I ended up going to the emergency room because I couldn't catch my breath (before I left I threw away 7 packs of cigarettes) The ER doctor said it is asthmatic bronchitis. I purchased the Nicoderm patches to help but I know I need support too. This will be my third and last attempt at not smoking. I never thought about online support and I started searching today and found this website. I am utilizing everything and everybody I can to help me through this. It has been over 24 hours and I have cried many times today even though I don't feel like smoking due to the bronchitis. Any support will be much appreciated. Thanks and best success to everyone. Darcy

I started smoking when I was 13 as well. When I was in school we were allowed to smoke. I look back and can't believe that we were allowed to smoke at such a young age. It is insane. Please use the Quit Program Tools to the left of your screen. They will help you a lot with you Quit & so will we. Darcy Welcome! I am a patch girl, too. (also 39) We have to conquer the mental and then the physical will be so much easier. This decision will definetly help the bronchitis. Hi Darcy - Gentle down the energy around you a little bit, dear one... If you tell yourself that this is your last attempt to quit smoking, that may be true, but would it support you to leave a little room there for your own humanity :) It's a rough road, this Quit journey, but all you have to do is make up your mind not to smoke, fill your toolbox of coping skills to call on in the worst times, get some support here, and just hold on tight to your commitment to yourself. Spend as much time here as possible for now - read and post and read more... and let us know how we can help. And make sure to do the program to the left... Blessings - Healer My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 100 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,526 Amount Saved: $465 Life Gained: Days: 13 Hrs: 1 Mins: 37 Seconds: 13

Darcy...I have not long ago finished the first and second weeks of my quit, so I really understand where you are. For thirteen years of your life, you did not smoke, which proves that you can live without smoking. You can do this 1 day at a time...
