Wow, you guys! I have now been off the gum all the way for 3 days! I haven't even blinked about it. I thought this would be the time to just get off of it cuz I had a 4 day weekend. The end of day 1 (the first day I decided to not have any nic gum) and I hadn't even thought about having any gum at all. What a wonderful feeling. I am nic free 100% now. The gum got me through the first 10 days and after I got over that horrible 3 day stretch I just didn't need it anymore!! This is so freakin awsome, I feel so freakin good! Thanks for getting me through the Hell Weeks! I am now at 2 weeks smoke free and feel great! Dear Nascar I was pissy day 8. As a matter a fact I was pissy day 1-8. And again day 9. You are still in heck week. This is not an easy addiction to kick. But it is doable. Kick, scream, cry and whatever it takes to get through 5 minutes at a time. Island Girl is right. REWARD YOURSELF. We uses to reward ourselves with smoking. Stupid but true. Your brain is being deprived of that "reward" Little things like Island Girl said...icecream. Be sure to tell your brain....this is the reward for not smoking. Self talk or "mantras". Smoking is bad, quitting is good! Smoking is bad, quitting is good! Smoking is bad, quitting is good! Deep breathing. Hang in there girl. Keep Racin....You can do this! NascarFan - Way to VENT girl! Hopefully by now it is getting better but if not - take a break, go outside (not where the smokers are) and breathe. In and out, In and out. It might be good for you to bring a yoga mat into work and when things are just the crapiest take your yoga mat out, lay down on it, close your eyes and work on relaxing your toes, breathe in hold it for 5 seconds and out, breate again, then relax your ankles, breathing all this time and holding it for 5 seconds, then relax your calves, then your knees, your thighs - on and on until you get to the top of your head. All this time you are breathing in and out. Concentrate on relaxing your brain and your body. Block everything else out but relaxing and breathing. If you can - put some relaxing music on your Ipod and plug in for 5 minutes. All this really works for me and believe me, I had to do this at work a few times - my boss thought I was crazy but now I have her doing it! LOL I hope that things get better for you today - I know that things will be better in the long run but I know that you are wanting it to be better TODAY! Know that we are behind you 100% and that you are doing such a great job you should be very proud of yourself. So what if you have some rough days at first? It's better than growing old wearing an oxygen tank - that is if you grow old at all. You want to be there for your family and you are doing everything you can to guarantee that. I am very proud of you - I know that I have told you that a million times already but I really MEAN it! Hi NascarFan - Sorry I missed this today - so busy at work I didn't have time to log on. You are on your 8th day and what a great job you have done. You are an amazing woman to support each and every one of us on this website. It is time for a reward girlfriend - how about taking your son for an ice cream cone? or a long walk in the park? how about a pedicure for yourself? YOU DESERVE IT! Depression for me seems to kick in on the days that are divisible by 8 - isn't that weird? At the end of the first week, then about day 40 then again at day 80. I am on Wellbutrin as well but sometimes it feels like I'm so blah and tired. We are working so hard on this quit that sometimes it feels like it zapps all our energy. Maybe a nap is in order when your son goes down for his. Once again - sorry I'm late but I'm here if you need me!
