Dear Kendall Yep.....what they all said!! I am a lil late getting here, but everyone had great stuff to say! Isn't this place AWESOME! I think of SSC as my little quit family. This little family helped me empower myself! I never imagined I would have the power to give up the Nicodemon. The power has always been withen myself.....it just took these fine people to show me! This can happen for you too! You too can be FREE!! Tomorrow will be the FIRST day of the rest of your life. It could be a little difficult.....Come here OFTEN, post and read. It really helps to hear other peoples journeys. Follow all the tips everyone gave you. Congratulations on starting the 1st day of the rest of your life! Kind Regards Karen My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/30/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 92 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,392 Amount Saved: $276 Life Gained: Days: 10 Hrs: 2 Mins: 56 Seconds: 44

Kendall, I hope you are still around. I wanted to congratulate you for your quit! You are probably feeling lousy because of the nicotine withdrawl. It sure does a number on you. Hang in there. The more water you drink, the better. It helps flush out all toxins. You will feel better, quicker. I stuck with water, cranberry juice, and hard candies. Oh, I also slept and came here. All day. For 3 days straight. Be easy on yourself. Just remember to fight. Never give in!! You can do it!!!! :) p.s.- I am on the IM in the mornings if ya need me!!! Hi Kendall, Welcome to this site. I sure hope you get your program working. It is very helpful. Very informational about your personal quit. Once tomorrow comes, you won't be nervous anymore. Definately, LOTS of water. Lots of hard candies also helped me. Have healthy snacks readily available. People have used licorice or straws and cut them to cig length. You will feel better with your running once you quit. You MUST make an alternative reward for yourself at the end of your run. As well as reward yourself all of the time...... The rewards do not need to cost a lot, and people have great ideas on free ones too. Do a search here for low-cost and free rewards. They are VERY important. Do NOT omit them!!!! Stay calm. You have made a wonderful decision! As hard as times can get, just know you will get through it. Fight hard, and do not give in! We are here for you! Hi Kendall - I am so excited that tomorrow is your quit day. I have been reading your posts and you are doing the right thing by getting prepared and knowing that you will need to be strong. Another thing I would suggest that you do tonight - throw away all the ashtrays in your home, and all your leftover cigs (in fact run some water over them before you toss them out). Spray Fabreeze in your office, open up the windows to let the stale yucky smoke out, clean your screen (you'd be surprised at the brown film all over it), spray the fabreeze on your chair and set up your work station in a way that it will be easy to reach for aids - the cut up straws, the twizzlers and put a picture of your son right by your computer screen so you can be reminded how proud of you he is. And don't forget the water...tons of water! Maybe make your reward after running a chai tea, green tea or something else that is healthy for you. I know that you can own this quit. You say you are so stubborn - so take control and kick that addiction. You are a strong woman. I'll be thinking about you in the morning. I look forward to your quit meter ringing up the days. Kendall - Good Morning! I see that you are true to your word and sticking close this morning. Good for you!!! Did you put a picture of your son next to your computer screen? If you have a digital camera you can take a new pic of him holding a sign that says "Mom, I love you - don't smoke!!" LOL When things get rough today - get up from your desk and take a quick stretch break - breathe deeply - get something cold to drink. You can do this because you are a prepared strong woman! We are proud of you that you are taking this step today and will send support and good thoughts all day! Kendall - You are being way, way, way too hard on yourself. You are just figuring out what is going to work and not work for you. I had to switch the coffee for tea but got others it didn't bother them at all. I think it was the habit of coffee and a cig... We are not here to judge you girl - you are doing enough of that to yourself! Your determination of setting another date - tomorrow- shows that you are strong and your brain is ready to accept this quit. Keep close to the site today - don't hide in your shell! I think that you will find more support today than you ever thought possible. Hi Kendall, I too was very nervous ahead of my quit and I think you will find that lots of others were as well. I actually felt better once I had actually started, I'm not saying that it was easy - far from it, but I felt happier that at least I was getting on with it. I go to the gym quite a bit and used to have a fag as soon as I came home, it was probably because it would have been about 2-3 hours by then since my last fix and I suppose your craves after running are pretty much the same. Good luck for tomorrow.
