Exercise!

18 years ago 0 5009 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hi everybody, During my 70-odd smoke free days I've indulged in several hobbies, which have occupied me well and takem my mind off the dreaded weed. Most of these hobbies haven't involved much physical exercise. This week I've started RUNNING, which has exhausted me, but I feel so much happier when relaxing afterwards. (Must be those endorphines working!) So if you're at the end of your tether and about to give up quitting (if that makes sense) PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE try this first All the best! Mr Ed :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 74 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,224 Amount Saved: 555 Life Gained: Days: 12 Hrs: 8 Mins: 37 Seconds: 13

Hi Lizzie and OinkOink2u, I'm living in Chingford (NE London); don't have a problem with the South as I used to live in Clapham(North). OinkOink2u - you quit the week before me, so you've nearly done 3 months - fantastic! Lizzie - How long have you been smoke free? Hi Lizzie, 5 grand? That's fantastic! Enough for a new car / kitchen / round the world cruise. Could go on and on. I'm certainly noticing a healthlier bank balance already. Whatever you do, reward yourself. You deserve it! Thanks for your encouragement Lizzie, It's good to hear from people who have a longer term experience of quitting and it's great to hear that things get better! Thanks Lizzie, it is certainly inspiring to hear from such an accomplished quitter!! I know there are potential pitfalls because I read about them on here sometimes, but forewarned is forearmed as they say! Oh Yes things get better....let's face it, there would not be many seasoned quitters if they didn't. Things are better than you can imagine right now.... To this day I can not believe how scared I was to quit and how I wondered whether life would ever be enjoyable again. The reality is that things are Far Far better. It is such a joy to be free of cravings. As you go further into your quit, you will notice how much of your past life was involved in 'planning a smoke' and oh the panic (all day meeting/travel/party/non-smokers etc. - how will I get away to smoke?). I won't even start on the hacking cough, the smell, the expense, the ever-present ghostly shadows of worry about your health. How did I ever put myself through all that? So I have almost 5 grand to spend now - any ideas? :p

I'm in the London Borough of Sutton...which is actually Surrey...but yes I know Clapham - pass through Clapham Junction often enough! So you escaped to the suburbs too, Mr Ed. Hi Oink! Beautiful country up in Yorkshire! I quit just over 3 years ago - I don't really visit here very often anymore because there comes a point where it has 'all been said and done.' You two are very close in your quits - it is great to have contemporaries - I am actually still in touch with mine who I met here when I quit. There is nothing like a shared experience in adverse circumstances ;). I know there are still difficult moments for you both, but believe me, do not go back. Things get a lot easier from around Day 120, and as you go further the view just keeps improving. You've been watching the London marathon, I take it? I'll stick to the walking I think. ;p I plan on still needing my knees in 20 years time. How are things going Mr Ed? Which part of London are you in? I'm South of the river - yes, really, someone has to live there. Lizzie :)
