I'm trying this again

Hi H, The first week IS hard for most people who quit, but it does get better! It's hard to gauge because the improvements are very subtle from day to day. All I know is how much better I feel after 11 weeks than I did on that first day. Stay strong H and post often - we're here to help you! You can do this H - just hang on to this site with all your might! I remember having a smoking marathon everytime I would schedule a quit date... then the day would come and I would convince myself that it wasn't the right time. A few weeks would pass and I would schedule another quit date and then smoke like a fiend while preparing for the quit. Until 30 days ago (yay me) I've smoked for most of my lifetime starting when I was a kid sneaking cigs from my grandpa and dad's ashtrays. I've been as addicted to cigarettes as is possible. Most of my smoking carreer I was a 2 pack a day smoker. The first week I quit I went thru every emotion in the book - and you probably will too. Just promise yourself now that no matter what happens, no matter how you feel you will hang onto this quit! You deserve a smoke-free life! Good luck H - you can do this! This is the 3rd attempt this year. I am getting discouraged. I did not think it would be so hard. By head is playing tricks on me. Last week I decided that Monday, May 1 wat it, again. My hubby was out of town and I could smoke all I wanted withoug him knowing about it. I smoked 37 cigs on sunday alone. It's almost as if I had to get as many of them in me as possible. If I was reading this about someone else I would think they are crazy. I'm starting day 3 and so far so good. I need your help I know I can do this. I have to do this for my kids and hubby. My sister has breast cancer and it's scarry, you would think that would be enough to make me stop. Welcome H - It's a tough battle for sure but you can win it. I know you can. You have plenty of good reasons to stop that's for sure. That bit about smoking as many as you can before you quit is familiar to me. I did the same thing on several failed quits. It's just the junkie in you trying to make you panic. Don't listen. Your on day three, that's great! Keep going, one minute at a time if you need to, but keep going. DO NOT GIVE IN! YOU CAN WIN! Have you talked to your doctor? They have ways of helping you quit that can make it easier. I didn't say easy, but easier. We are here for you. Promise us you will not smoke until you have posted a message and received replies from us. If you find you really need a butt, post first, let us help you through it. Promise. You're fighting a good fight. I'm proud of you.
