Hi everyone. I quit smoking 84 days ago and just now found out from a friend at work about message boards and support groups for people quitting smoking. I never even thought about it before. I am really struggling to hold onto this quit. I have not smoked and I don't want to smoke but it just seems like sometimes smoking would "calm" me down and take away the impatience I feel at everything and everyone. I don't remember ever feeling so impatient and wanting to hit a wall or something when things didn't go "quite right". I'm looking around here and like what I see. mountain1Text

Text I just wanted to say thank you to all who responded today. Thanks for the referrals to the other threads. I got a lot of good information that I printed out and will keep with me in my journal and it will also help with doing my journaling and how to begin dealing with all these emotional outburst of impatience. Thankfully it is mostly impatience and anger towards myself and not outwardly to others. mountain1 :)

Moutain, First let me say congratulations on making it to 84 days. Second, I know what you mean about being impatient. Since I've quit, I've found my self more impatient with people in traffic. I've also been a little short tempered with my fiance, but I've learned to deal with it and not take it out on her. When it gets really bad and you want to punch the wall, go punch the bed or pound the floor. Then go into the garage and scream and curse until you feel better. Get it all out otherwise it will build up inside you. Good luck.

Mountain, 84 days without help, that is amazing. No one to vent to when you want to scream, yell, cry, kick something you have done very well. Here at SSC, you will find all kinds of support. Anytime you need help all you have to do is ask and believe me the group will come to you. I didn't realize how addictive cigarettes was until I started reading post here. I did not consider myself an addict, but I am. Just one puff away... When was your quit date, and why did you quit? You will hear a lot about rewards at a milestone in your quit. And they are very special, and they don't have to be anything expensive just something you like to do. Please read and reread John W post tonight. He is right on top of everything you are going through. Good luck. Welcome to the SSC Mountain. This is a great place to quit smoking. There is a ton of information on these boards that can help you maintain your quit. Congrats on those awesome stats. There is no way I could have made it 80+ days without the help of the good people around here. Look around and learn all you can about the horrible addiction. It's nice to have you join our little quit family. Hello Mountain, I am so proud of You for having the 84 days smoke free, Congraulations are in order, You are certaintly on the right path, Don't quit now Friend, I have just past the 3 year mark, smokeless myself, For it is very Doable, Everyone has there on way in which to wean themselves from this terrible addiction, Someone told me when I first quit on here, that You need another addiction to take the place of the one You are trying to get rid of, So my Other addiction was Excercising, for the first 3 months of my quit, would walk a fast mile every day, did like 20 sit-ups here in my computer room, and finally got into diet food and eating healthy, Friend, It sounds a little bit to me like You could be in the fast lane, Would I be correct in thinking that, for that is a no no, One Day at a time, You live this day, before You think of tomorrow, You might laugh at me for saying this, and laughter hurts No one, But since You are already 84 days into Your quit, Make this Website Your Home, It's open 24 hours aday 7 Day's a week, But HERE is where You beat that addiction for good, There are so many good Idea's, Just pick the One of Your Choosing, Take care, And keep that Eye of the Tiger, Smokless In Oklahoma :)
