Word of caution, I survived my first time out very early in my previous quit. So decided next time I went out, I did so well last time, I can have just one. What a huge mistake. Anyway, good for you and just stay aware that NOPE, not one puff ever, is the only way to go.

Hi Aliebling,
You seem to be doing fine!
One significant change that I have noticed:
In the early days of my quit, I avoided the smell of smoke because it was reminiscent of my life as a smoker and left me with a feeling of 'loss'.
Now I avoid the smell of smoke because I find it unpleasant. Pure and simple as that.
Mr Ed :)

Yay, good for you! One step at a time. I find that it really doesn't bother me so much now. I figure that I am going to have to get over it and deal with being around smokers since everyone I know and am related to smokes. I just have to be okay!
Keep up the good work!

Alie, WOW - you are a force like no other, don't think I could have handled that so early in my quit. Just make sure your protect your quit especially while out drinking and enjoying life w/ friends, we tend to let our guards down. You're doing fabulous and if you are only having brief flashes of smoking, then you're one of the lucky ones ;)

It's better to be a non-smoker with an occasional desire for a cig than a smoker with a constant desire to quit......

Well, yesterday was a very bad day for my diet, but a good one for not smoking! I went out with a friend to a bar and got pretty drunk (which always makes me want to smoke, and reduces my judgment to the point where I always do) on the outdoor patio, with smokers all around, then had a nice meal (which always makes me want to smoke) and walked home in the warm night (another time when I always smoke), and there was hardly any struggle not to smoke! I kept _watching_ people with cigarettes, kind of clinically, but only very brief flashes of wanting one myself. I'm pretty proud today. :)

Nascarfan, it must be so much harder when it's the people you're actually hanging out with that are smoking - hardly any of my friends smoke, so it's more just the other people in the area. So it makes it a bigger challenge for you, but now that you're a non-smoker, when (not if!) your friends and family quit as well, you'll have made it easier for them.
Aliebling,
I'm glad you made it through all of that! Next time you get in a situation where you really want to smoke, just think about how you made it through this time, so now, you can make it through anything!
Crave the Quit!
Pam
