Very Uncomfortable...

It's day 1 and I am feeling kind of uncomfortable. Actually I felt sick to my stomach all evening until I went to bed. I didn't smoke a lot lastnight cuz I wasn't feeling well. I woke up this morning and forgot...I had to think about why I knew today would be a rough day...lol...then I remembered! My husband left his smokes out and the ashtray was laying there too. I thought to myself that "I could just smoke one last one!" But I didn't. I fought that urge and made myself chew the gum instead. I must remember why I am doing this. There are so many reasons I need to do this, not just one! So, its about break time at work and this is getting pretty tough. This is when I would go out and puff! So I am trying not to watch the clock...but its hard. Well, I just need to become very familiar with being uncomfortable. How long will this last? I am hoping not too long, I wanna be a nice person to be around for my family. I never want to take my withdrawls out on them. How do you seperate yourself and make sure that you realize that YOU are responsible for these feelings, not my son or husband? Thanks for listening.... Having a hard time!

I responded to you in another thread, but in case you don�t go back there, I�ll repeat myself here. Hey Krazy, honestly�not everyone has a difficult time quitting. I�m on day 7 , using the Commit lozenge(love it) and it has been fairly easy for me. The first day was the hardest, but I just kept drinking water. I think that is key. Trust me, I�m no tower of strength, am under a lot of stress and I loved smoking. If I can do it�.you can. KahneKrazy, COngratulations on your decision to quit! You are unfamiliar with what to do while you don't smoke. GUess what? You don't smoke anymore -- so now you get to do whatever you want when you want!!!! Take a walk, if its break time, go visit another co-worker who does not smoke. Call someone who supports you. Crochet, work a crossword - just no smoking. There is so much more time to do what I want now that I don't smoke. You're not missing a THING! I walk the stairs at work when I used to "break for a smoke" and at home, I get on the treadmill and walk my dog. Fitness is awesome. Water, Water, Water, I am still doing at least 6 glasses a day. CobenFan has given you great advice. You've given yourself freedom to do what you want since you have quit. For me at home, i bought one of those Fuzzy Posters that you color with markers, so when I sit down at home i color instead of smoke. It occupies my hands and then when I finish it i will have something to show for my time instead of a full ashtray. So far, knock on wood, my quit has not been hard. i entered it with the knowledge that I had finally chosen to be smoke free. i do get urges, but i dismiss them with a thought to myself, "no, it's my choice". my body is doing so many weird things now. I have broke out in what is known as "quitzits" all over my body along with all the other typical symptons, but I am grateful that my body is healing it's self. I am glad you have this site. It has a tremendous wealth of knowledge from the members who walk before us.
