Hey there Eve! Okay, I too quit cold turkey. Last night my girls were sleeping, and as I was walking through my bedroom doorway, I turned around slightly and out of the corner of my eye, I swear I saw a little girl............. I then turned around again, because I thought it was one of mine, but nothing was there. I kinda spooked myself there. My mind sure is playing tricks on me. Maybe just tooooo much oxygen!!!! ;p My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 44 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,335 Amount Saved: $143.88 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 13 Mins: 56 Seconds: 49

Hey Eve, I quit cold turkey too and when I first quit, my mind played all kinds of tricks on me! I heard voices that weren't there, saw things that weren't there, and I thought I had done things I didn't. I was honestly afraid to drive my car!! But it passes. I still get strange little sensations sometimes but it is much better! My daughter tells me that it is nothing new for me to be spaced out, but for the 1st month, I was SPACED OUT! Like nothing I had ever felt before. Couple that with the seeing, hearing, thinking issues I was having, heck I was afraid to smoke again!! Hang in there, keep up the good work and enjoy the temporary insanity. Soon, everyone will expect you to be normal again!! Hi, Eve. Here's what's happening. Since you quit smoking, you are not repulsive like you used to be. So the spirits that used to stay as far away from your stinky self as they could get are now getting closer so you can see them. Truthfully, I have no idea what's happening. Are you on NRT, Wellbutrin, anything else that could have some effect? I did experience some vision/reality perception problems while on Wellbutrin. Don't know if the drug was the cause or not. Only happened twice within a few days of each other back during the third week, or so. If you're really concerned you should run it by your doctor. Congratulations on 8 awesome, smoke-free days, Eve. :) Shevie My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 329 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,590 Amount Saved: $1250.2 Life Gained: Days: 61 Hrs: 10 Mins: 19 Seconds: 40

Laughter is the best medicine, Eve. Glad I could medicate you :p. My guess is you were simply more ready to quit this time than the last. A lot of people take a few practice runs first, just to get the hang of it. The "knight club" you are referring to is a quit group. You have quit, you are here, you meet all the requirements, lol. Just find a group of people around your quit date, a couple of weeks or a month, get together and decide on a name. Since you are all about at the same point you can provide great support for each other. For example, in this thread I see you (9 days), Duckie (12), and Milaya (2). Look in your rope thread and others, I'll bet you find some more. In fact, I thought your rope thread was the beginning of a quit group. From what I've seen here, people who get into a quit group early have the greatest chance for success. The SSC provides a great source of support and our members have a much better chance of success than people who don't join a support group. But when you create a quit club within the SSC it's like you focus all that power even tighter, thus greatly improving your odds. Think "support group cubed", or something like that. Hi Eve, I think the 4,000 chemicals in cigarettes are now leaving your body. Of course, I'm not a doctor (wish I was!). Withdrawing from chemicals is very hard work on your body. You are recovering, you are healing. Be sure to pamper yourself and rest as much as you can. Take a hot bath with good smelling stuff and drink some fragrant decaf tea. If this lasts longer than you think is normal, try to see your doctor. Eve, As you know everyone will have different symptoms. The feeling of being "spaced out" is linked with carbon monoxide withdrawal. It gives a sense of being in "another dimension." It can include changes in distance and space perception, a floating feeling, and a total lack of concentration. Remember that carbon monoxide is a deadly poison - it is a good thing to get out of your system. If your symptoms persists, take the time to check with your doctor to rule out anything medical. Keep Strong, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
