3 MONTHS TODAY

18 years ago 0 1687 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
I have waited late in the day to post my 3 months quit, for the past three days it seems as though I have been holding on by a thread. I don't want to smoke, but it's like I don't have any energy to do anything and I don't want to do anything or go anywhere. I am forcing my self to go to my sister in-law's birthday party tonight. And I know I am walking into a smoke filled room. I don't think that will bother me because they all know that I have quit smoking and when they come to my house they smoke outside. They are all so proud of me especially someone who is 66 and has smoked for 50 years. I too am very PROUD OF MY QUIT, and I would be devastated should should I in a weak moment smoke... I know why I quit and it is so important to me. I have been on an anti- depressant for a long time, so I don't know what is wrong with me. I have too much time to think and I guess have too many pity parties. :eg: I'm still walking, going to my art class, visiting my sick friend, talking to friends on the phone and I do get lots of support from all of them, nothing negative there. I stay busy with the Community Center in my area. I'm in counseling due to the death of my son, grandson, husband and sister. I told my counselor that it seem as though my body has just shut down. And she told me that normal because it was protecting me. Has anyone ever heard of that?? But I don't feel normal, I get ready to go out and if it is not important I don't go. I don't think the smoking has anything to do with this but I may be wrong too!!! Oh, my gosh am I rambling. I have stayed glued to this site for the past 4 days I have not posted much but I have read so many threads that spoke to me. So I felt no need to post. But I feel safe posting my three months today. Will let you know how the party went. Be thinking of me, thanks SSC for being there for me... :) SUNSHINE My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/7/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 90 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,541 Amount Saved: $315 Life Gained: Days: 13 Hrs: 0 Mins: 58 Seconds: 43

Sunshine, Congratulations on your 3 months! For what it is worth, I am feeling depressed also. I am fine when I am at work talking and laughing with co workers, but at home I feel down. I'm sure that is part of the whole process of quitting. I am glad you sounded better in your last post. And also congrats for making it through the party without a smoke. You should be so proud of that. I have to tell you that since you have come to this site and told us about your past heartbreaks, I have been in awe of your strength. Your goodness and compassion towards people always comes out so loud and clear. From what I can tell, you truly are a giving person. I am so glad you have given yourself this great gift of not smoking. You deserve only good things in your life. It sounds as if you have some great friends who are there when you need them. Take care of yourself and find some time to visit with them. Good wishes and hopes are coming your way from me. WOW you are one strong gal! That is a lot to deal with! But you are sooo doing the right thing! We smoke to numb out something, every time we smoke, we get rid of a thought or feeling... doing that is wrong, we need to go through that stuff, and move past it in order to heal. You should be proud of yourself and you should know you ARE worth it to have health and happiness!! I wish you the best! Keep posting, I will be around :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 2 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 89 Amount Saved: $15 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 6 Mins: 28 Seconds: 1

Sunshine, I'm so glad that your family is proud of you. We are proud of you, too! Perhaps you need a change of meds? Or maybe a change of scenery? You've been through a lot over the past year and so it's understandable that you're not going to be Miss Sunshine every day. Allow yourself to feel your feelings, perhaps write them down. But if you can't pull yourself up, please talk to your counselor. Congratulations on 3 months...that is so huge!!!
