Methods used to stop smoking

Minnie, During one of my prior quits I tried Wellbutrin, but couldn't handle the drug... It made me gain weight, which it never does... (I'm special :o}) That said, you will want to work closely with your doctor to come off of the medication, because you can have withdrawal problems, as Wellbutrin is a powerful anti-depressant, as well as a NRT. Your MD should set you up on a simple step-down schedule to wean you from the drug, and you'll be fine. CONGRATULATIONS on your quit. Minnie, I would recommend staying on the Wellbutrin for a while. When you want to stop the Wellbutrin, definitely work with your doctor on this - you'll need to do a careful taper off it! I am taking Wellbutrin to stop smoking. It is working as I have not smoked since March 1, 2006. Has anyone else used Wellbutrin to stop smoking? How and when do you go off Wellbuterin? Do you need to contact the doctor and ask when you should stop taking it? Thank you in advance for any help. Minnie, You best knowledge will come from your doctor and pharmacist. You may also want to do a search using the key word "wellbutrin". There have been many threads that cover this. Keep Strong, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
