Hi Shelly
I'm Crystal, and have just quit smoking (sunday). I have also suffered chronic clinical depression for 8 years, so i DO understand a bit about what you're going through.
The withdrawal from nicotine will be emphasising your moods, so things that were perhaps a cause for minor concern whilst you were a smoker, now appear to be a cause for extreme anxiety, panic, and depression. THIS WILL PASS. The BEST thing YOU can do to overcome these feelings is to increase your self-esteem and pride. This will battle the depression head-on....you will start to believe that you ARE strong enough to make it, and in the grander scheme of things, the day-to-day panics actually don't matter as much as you think they do.
I am not in any way belittling your problems, I am merely asking you to look at yourself, and at what you are doing, and to be proud of it. Because you should be. You are doing AMAZINGLY, and yes, you feel crap at the moment, but your SPIRIT is healing with every breath you take. You are 'cleaning' yourself from the inside out. And that's something to smile about, dont you think?
Sorry if i've come over all self-righteous and 'happy'...read some other of my posts from yesterday - they are the EXACT opposite! But i wanted to reply to you - you CAN DO THIS. I'm rooting for you hun, keep the strength.
Crystal xxxxxxx
