Hey Everyone, I had my first smoking dream last night! It is so weird that so many have the same smoking dreams....lol This is weird to me! Mine was that I lit a smoke and had a hall off of it and I got so sick! I then put it out and had to tell my familyfriends and co workers I had went back to smoking again and they all were so disapointed and it made me sick! Crazyness...7 days smoke free for me today! And the cravings, I hope I don't ginks myself by saying this right now are getting lesser! ;)

    Cigarettes Not Smoked

18 years ago 0 48 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
shamrock meg here- i had a smoking dream a couple of days ago. I felt ashamed in my dream, but it was like someone else put the cigs. there and so i just kept on smoking. (three cigs. i recall) I woke up and had to take a few minutes to clear my thoughts and recall that it was just a dream. I still felt the feelings of being ashamed of cheating on my quit. I once heard that since out lungs are clearing out that some of the nicotine (smell) comes up and when we are dreaming that our body recognizes this smell and injects the thoughts in our dream. -meg- My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/23/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 14 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 248 Amount Saved: $49.7 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 14 Mins: 12 Seconds: 19

Charlie- I frequently have the "smoking dream". I probably always have, but never thought of it as abnormal before now, so now I am quite aware of smoking in my dreams. Sadly, since smoking has its tedrils wrapped around my entire adult life, I don't see that changing any time soon. It may have been a post of mine you read about someone offering me a cigarette in a dream and it may as well have been a rattlesnake for how I reacted. It does horrify me to think one puff could make me a 2ppd smoker and toss away a 40 day quit. Worst of all, I might just never quit again. Anyway, when I dream about it now, I just sort of shake my head in the morning, take a deep breath and know it was a dream. It is another obstacle to deal with first thing....what a p.i.t.a. Charlie girl, I have had 2 dreams about smoking. In the first dream I had so bad craving that I woke up. I laid awake for a minute and realized that the craving was only in my dream! In the 2nd dream someone tried to force me to smoke, but i kept saying that I didn't want to smoke. Over and over again. Since I stopped smoking I have dreams almost every night and I wake up almost every 2nd hour. I don't crave a cigarette, I just wake up... I don't use anything. Sure, I had the smoking dream about two weeks into my quit and it freaked me out...but this weekend, my boyfriend had a dream that I was smoking!! How odd is that!? We'd gone to a bar the night before and people were smoking there, but I didn't. maybe that triggered his dream. he's sweet, going through withdrawal for me. He's never smoked. Ok, so I had the smokin dream a couple of nights ago and it scared the heck out of me. I remember reading a post early in my quit about somone else who had a dream like this. I remember it so clearly - I was coming clean that I had slipped and smoked 3!!! I was so scared about my quit meter that I woke up crying!!! I can't explain it! It was devistating!! I am choosing to use this as a sign that I have quit for good!! I am now at the point that I'm more concerned about my quit meter reaching a year than I want a smoke. Does that make sense? Has anyone else had the smokin dream? charlie girl My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/9/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 80 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 483 Amount Saved: $160 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 5 Mins: 0 Seconds: 56

Hi Charlie girl, you're o.k. A lot of us have had dreams about smoking, some of them are really freaky!! I have had a couple too. In one I kept sneaking puffs on my Mom-in-laws cig. as if I was a bad 12 yr old. Really weird, as I've never bummed a puff off of anyones ciggie. It was always a whole one or nothin' for me! As long as you're only dreaming of smoking and not doing it you're doing great. Remember you can look but don't touch. Sort of like being married!! lol. By the by, I see you have 80 days, Congrats to you. Head over to the Ash Kicker post and Strut your Stuff and your whereabouts girlie!! Charlie girl, You're totally normal! Well, at least where smoking dreams are concerned. ;p I've had so many, I lost count! I've even had 2 or 3 in one NIGHT before!!! My favorite one was when I was interviewing Julia Roberts and she got up to go to the bathroom and I realized that I was smoking, and I thought "OMG! I'm smoking!" But did I put it out? NOOOOOO! I kept on smoking it and lit another! I thought, "this is a once in a lifetime opportunity! I'm sure everyone at the SSC will understand." Good thing these are just dreams! Anyway, I think they DO mean that we are done with smoking. I can't remember ever having smoking dreams in previous quits, and I've quit more times than years I've been alive. It's possible that I had one one of those times and don't remember, but I'm SURE I didn't have as many as I've had on this quit. So, take it as a good sign and just remember... in your dreams is the ONLY time it's OK to smoke! :p Crave the Quit!
