Hi Parola, welcome to SCC. This half-sleepy state you refer to is due to being deprived of a substance you have been addicted to - nicotine. Nothing can replace it, though the patches may help as they still administer nicotine to your system. I didn't use patches myself, but even if you do then you will still have to go through nicotine deprivation when you come off the patches. The good news is, the half-sleepy state actually is only at its worst for the first few days without your drug, then it will get better as all the nicotine leaves your system. At this point you may want to smoke again because it is a comfort thing more than anything, but it will not make you feel better because
(1) You don't want to smoke, that's why you quit.
(2) You are no longer physically addicted to nicotine so you will not be relieving any physical need, a cigarette will just make you become addicted again.
Good luck!
Celia
