Hi All!

Hi All (again), My stop smoking date was the 17th of April, but I have decided after careful condideration to speed it up a little. My new date is 10 April 2006, that gives me 4 days and I could not be happier! I have already made progress this week, with my 1st Smoker's Diary, I counted 26 and up per day, I am currently on average 15-20 at the most. I have already given up my 1st cigarette of the day, which I though would be more difficult. Last time I introduced myself, and I told you about the Bronchitus, it's not going away. I still can't breathe properly - and this morning support sends me an email with info that after 3 days of smoking your last cigarette your bronchial tubes relax and your lung capasity is better! That means for this problem to go away, I must quit sooner - and I definately am so ready! Wish me luck. Hi Redrosie, I'm glad to hear from you again, trust you're doing well. I am definately prepared, will be doing the final touches the weekend like getting my hobby gear - I'm going to knit to keep my hands busy. Snacks are sorted out, and I'm normally quite busy right through the day. After work, I pick up my son, at home start to cook, after dinner bathe him, then tuck him in bed - and after that it differs - depending on which night it is, 3 times a week I study, 2 times I iron, and the other 2 I catch up on what I still have to do (like cleaning or grooming etc). And regarding the rewards, I already planned nice thingies I would like to have or do, so it's also motivating! Thanks for all your support, I really do appreciate it! Hi Bluepanda, Thanks for your advise, I'll definately keep that in mind! I have already given up my first cigarette in the morning, so at least one of my habitual ciggies are eliminated. I think I'll try the car next for the remaining 3 days. Congrats on your 3 days, so by now you can breathe much easier and at least taste what you eat! Keep on the good work! Hi Shevie, Thanx for the advice, I will definately keep it in mind, and I'll definately spend most of Monday on the site. Regarding the rewards, I'm so looking forward to it! My hubby even gave me an extra reward, as long as I keep on cutting down this week - as I'm already saving - I can have something small this weekend. He's backing me up all the way! And conrats on your victory - going for 3 years! Good Luck Gogga! During the time leading up to my quit date I started breaking some of my smoking habits... like smoking while on the phone, in the car, etc. It seemed to help prepare me for the final quit... maybe it would help you too. Dear Gogga We all know scare tactics do not work, so I will not try that. I will tell you my own personal regrets. I have had chronic bronchitis since I was a kid and was told in my teens and 20's and 30's to quit smoking or suffer the consequences. When you are young you think...that can't happen to me. Now I am 47. I have emphysema. Chronic Bronchitis plus Emphysema is COPD. You mentioned you quit when you were pregnant.........You can quit again for your baby boy!! You can do this!! Get prepared here at SSC, read and post. We are all here for you. Smoking has done the damage to me....but SSC has helped me to at least halt the progression of COPD! SSC can help prepare you to quit, stay quit and manage your Chronic Bronchitis. Stay Strong! Dear Gogga, Welcome and congrats on your decision to quit. You sound like a very strong person. I'm sure you'll do fine. I would recommend to see your doctor again. See if there is anything he could put you on to help in your success. Have to be careful though if you are trying to get pregnant. I was just curious, what is the link with diabetes and smoking? I too have type 2 Diabetes. My body has been completely out of wack since my quit. I have to be careful of what I eat, and I haven't. I will very soon, but one thing at a time. Good luck on your journey! We are here cheering for you! :p My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 26 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 793 Amount Saved: $85.02 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 3 Mins: 1 Seconds: 59
