Congrats on 120.. 4 months! Isn't that great!!! Another thing that helps the bad times pass is a great little milestone. I was really excited when I hit 4 months, now I'm waiting for 5 months.. you too!!! Congrats again! Reward yourself with something special. You deserve it! Hey Riverdale, I'm sorry to hear that you are having a hard time with the cravings. You are always there with supportive words for the rest of us, so I wanted to drop a few words on the page for you. Remember that tomorrow will be better, and if not tomorrow, then the next day. Some days I am a miserable person to be around, even this late in my quit. I've learned that it will just be that way sometimes, but it will not make me smoke again. I remember N.O.P.E. I remember that if I smoke one, I will smoke many. If I smoke many, I will have to quit again. If I quit again I will have to go through all this horrible quit stuff.. like depression, weight gain, plain misery, and being a real meany sometimes! ;-). So, with all of that said, I stick with N.O.P.E and come here to help me keep my faith that it will some day be totally behind me. I'll be healthy and hopefully a nice person again! :) So keep the faith, this will pass. And all of these nice people who quit so long ago will continue to tell us so. Hope you get a period of relief soon. They are so nice when they come. Cuddles It's better to be a non-smoker with an occasional desire for a cig than a smoker with a constant desire to quit...... Hey Phillip - I slipped up HUGE after 2-1/2 years smoke-free. I had smoked for 25 years, and I was always the one voted most likely to NEVER quit. Well, I proved them wrong, for a while. I am so sorry I ever started again. It has taken me almost a year to smarten up and quit again. And completely contrary to what I thought, since I knew I could quit - having done it before - it was harder this time than the first. Don't give up - the guilt is unbelievable. All the progress I made with my health, my fitness (I started running) - all of it - it wasn't worth giving it up for. Stick with it. You WILL prevail. sushik (I'm from T.O. too) My grandmother lived in Riverdale for over 50 years! I loved the zoo when it had real animals in it - not the farm-variety stuff of late. Stay strong Phillip, I have feelings like that also. I also remember what the first week was like and really its not that bad. I talked to a friend today that has been quit for 3 years. She still craves every day. Knows it's not an option but just hangs in there and it has become part of her life just like everything else. Just one day at a time. Keep breathing, drinking water, swimming. I know you know the drill. We are always here for you.
I will not smoke and I will not give up my quit!
Phillip- sometimes that's all there is left to us. To hell with the soul searching-trying to find the cause-the logic-the reason- the trigger. It makes no sense. If it makes it any better, I'm sure you realize you're not alone! Dear Phillip, I know you are going through a lot of craves right now, and I have no cure for you. I just wanted to lend out my hand, and offer you support. I know you will get past all of this without resorting to smoking. You are stronger and wiser than Nicodemon. Take care of yourself, and take it easy. Relax and breathe. You will make it. I simply will not give up. All of this is really bad right now. I know that you more experienced quitters say it will get better. I trust you. I don't want to relive the very beginning and I really don't want to go through this again. I simply do not understand and I imagine that there is a large component of the addict rattling everything he can as he dies a slow death. I will not give up. I will not smoke and I will find some way to aleviate all of the really bad stuff that is coming up in me. I will fight. I will not smoke and I will not give up my quit!
