did anyone see the lady's lungs?

I watched Oprah on Monday and Dr. Oz was her guest and they showed some clips from the Discovery program you mention. The woman whom he operated on had been a smoker for over 40 years - he told her that he wouldnt operate until she quit and she did! Funny how life works, Monday was my quit day and I dont usually have time to watch tv in the afternoon ( I'm usually chasing the kids) but I found time on Monday - and that show and Dr. Oz brought all my reasons for quitting home. Seeing the lung of that woman made my feel sick - and at the same time hopeful. Hopeful that I have time to reverse all the damage. By the way, her operation was a success and the good doctor said if she eats the right foods and never smokes again she will be around for years to come. I went and searched with Tivo and found the name of the show. It's called, "You, the owner's manual" with Dr. Memeit OZ. It's playing again (here in SO Cal. ) this Sunday on Discovery Health. I think I'll watch again, just so it sinks in! It's good to hear that our bodies begin to work hard to repare the damage right away, even if it does take 10 yrs. I think the only thing worst than taking ten yrs to repare my lungs would be taking ten years and one day. I was watching discovery health, a show called something like, "You, the Manual". anyways, it's a show on your body and how to be healthy. They showed a heart bi-pass opporation on this 60 yr old woman. Ok, so the focus was her heart...but for a second the dr moved her lung forward, touched it with his scalpol (sp?) and said, "by the way, this is the lung of a smoker".....it was nasty and black. I know we have all seen those pictures of black lungs, but they have always been from a dead person, and they never had a body attached to them. OMG!!!!! I can't even tell you how sick they looked. today I am glad I am not a smoker.
