ItsIronic, This is my first real quit. I started smoking when I was 12 and I am now 35. My previouse attempts to quit were. Smoke my last Cig. at 10pm go to bed and then try to go threw the next day. Longest I ever made it was till about noon. This quit was no different in the beggining. The difference was I made it past the gas station on my way to work. Then my co-workers wouldn't let me go alone at lunch time for they said they didn't trust me alone. Then the BIGGEST test was to get back home without stopping at the gas station again. I DID IT and since that day I have been just putting one foot in front of the other. I remember all the attempts and how hard it was to get threw the first 24 hours for me and I don't want to EVER have to go threw that again. ItsIronic: You ROCK - take it one at a time. Don't think too far ahead - celebrate what you have accomplished, be happy!!!! Mr Ed - you're too kind. On the day you hit the beach, I will be turning 60. Save me a good spot ! I'll see you all on Wednesday, leaving for the airport now. Stay Strong and Enjoy the weekend. Hi It's my 1st attempt after 40+ years of smoking and apart of 3 puffs couple days ago (hated taste and smell of it) I am still smoke free. I am also afraid that I will fail because almost everyone did on their first try. But I am trying to be optimistic. Hey kids It has bothered me that I seem to be alone in quitting on my very first attempt. It bothers me because since it seems to be not possible. I am really really scared that this is to good to be true or that I am gonna fall any minute now. I keep reading over and over again that most of you are on your 1st, 2nd, 100th attempt. As much as I want to smoke.....It actually scares me more to fail and smoke, because I could not possibly go through a 2nd, 3rd or 4th attempt. I think that would kill me! This is the hardest thing I have ever done in my life and I just can't do it again. I am 47 years old and I smoked about a pack a day since I was 12 years old. (almost 35 years) Is it possible to beat this demon first time out?? Are there any other successful 1st timers out there?? I hope so!! Thanks Signed Chicken My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/30/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 110 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,656 Amount Saved: $330 Life Gained: Days: 12 Hrs: 1 Mins: 0 Seconds: 24

Thanks Guys You are right.....I am a junkie....I am a junkie....I am a junkie....Stop, Listen and DON'T SMOKE!!! I just got back from lunch with some friends. My smoking friends. One of them was a co-quitter and just started smoking again a few days ago. I actully was pissed off at her and I think I was JEALOUS and thats why I was in this FUNK. Dumb to be jealous. Then I read some threads here where there were failed quits...yada yada yada... And I went in panic mode, I CAN'T DO THIS. Might as well smoke right now if I am going to screw this up. I did take a quick peek here before I went out and (sniffle, sniffle)...THANKS. I went to lunch feeling sorry for my smoking friend that fell off the wagon instead of being jealous. I am so glad there are others who are doing this first time out. Thanks River....you are right. As ever....I appriciate you. and Coben...you rock. Cuddles, your strength amazes me and as I said before I TOO KNOW this is your quit! Mr Ed you are in my boat! THat is too cool...thanks! Alexa stay strong! Alley, we also seem to be on the same page...because I have jokinly said....I quit smoking a few times and it was the longest HOUR of my life! Way to go Alley! Rusty and XSmoker...thanks you are right No NEGATIVE thinking. And NascarFan Keep going left and never stop and you will win! Thanks signed Chicken crossing the road :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/30/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 110 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,659 Amount Saved: $330 Life Gained: Days: 12 Hrs: 1 Mins: 44 Seconds: 17

Hi there! This is my first quit as well! I will never go back. I fear hell week. I am a cold turkey quitter, and that was the worst thing I have ever been through. I laughed at Chicken's post. "should I just smoke and get my first fail over with..." I have had those thoughts before. It seems that people say that they are stronger and more determined with each and every quit attempt. I used to think, wow, maybe I need more determination. But then I realized, that I already have it. I found my strength and determination my first week. I knew I would never smoke again. Hi ItsIronic - Yes that is junkie thinking all over the place:) Don't pay any attention to it. Don't let those doubts in - they don't fit! This is my first real Quit and there will not be a second. I'm done with it and that decision is made... Not one puff, two or three :) Quit is quit, so let all those thoughts go - you are as strong as ever:) Blessings and Light- Healer My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 76 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,686 Amount Saved: $353.4 Life Gained: Days: 9 Hrs: 22 Mins: 59 Seconds: 40
