Susie, Welcome to the site and congratulations on making the decision to quit smoking. Now that you have a date set, preparation is the key to a successful quit. Stay close to this site as for the members are a wonderful source of knowledge and support. Take Care, Melanie _____________________ The SSC Support Team

susie, Welcome to the site and congratulations on becoming an ex-smoker! It is great to hear that you are ready to quit! The question is are you prepared? Please take advantage of our free Online Treatment Program in your glove compartment as you log into our site. This program will first help you determine if youre ready to quit. If youve already quit and are looking for some help, this program is for you. Although the program will first assess if youre ready to quit the exercises at the beginning of the program will help remind you of the reasons why you quit in the first place. Dont get frustrated - ex-smokers have told us that the exercises at the beginning of the program gave them confidence and helped them reaffirm their personal commitment to remain smoke free. The exercises in this program are divided into six major milestones. Think of each milestone as a destination youre trying to reach. After you complete the exercises in each milestone, your car will progress along the road map located at the bottom left-hand side of the screen. The best thing about this program is that it is free and you dont have to purchase any products to use this program. We hope that we have guided you in the right direction today! Please feel free to contact our support department in our feedback section found at the bottom of this page if you continue to have any questions or concerns. Or, please continue to join us here at our online support group! We wish you all the best and look forward to helping you achieve your goals! Melanie ____________________ The SSC Support Team

Thought I would update. Both myself and my husband want to quit. We live in Scotland and smoking has been banned everywhere. If you drop a butt in the street you can be hit with a fine. Trouble is, even though I set my quit date for 10 April, our health advisor is telling us that we should wait until we return from our vacation. So I will set my new date as sometime in June . We are hoping to get set up with a counselling group which is a bit like AA. Will keep looking at the site and have high hopes of a "for good quit" this time.

I found this site today and went through the questionairre. Have set my date as 10 April. Need to get motivated. My husband is also going to give up. We go on holiday shortly after A day and I don't know if we will cope. This makes my 5th attempt in 10 years. I did well last time lasting 6 months. So here's hoping! :8o:

Hi susie144! My husband and I quit together. It really has not been that bad. We have had our occasions, but for the most part, we haven't been at each others throat. I am glad you both made the decision to quit together. Can't wait until your return! Susie144, Welcome to the site you won't be sorry that you signed on. I can wait to see your post when you start in May. Good luck to you. And I had heard how strict Scotland was on smokers. But what is most important is your health, right. Hope you have a great holiday. Look forward to you and your husband's success stories when you get back. :) SUNSHINE My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/7/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 86 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,473 Amount Saved: $301 Life Gained: Days: 12 Hrs: 11 Mins: 8 Seconds: 26

    Cigarettes Not Smoked

Hi Susie144, I quit first and my husband followed later. We are both doing okay. This time when you quit you need to tell yourself you can never smoke again. That is what I do. I know if I have just one I will be smoking more and more. I never want to have to do this again. It is easier to not smoke then it is to smoke. Good luck to you both. Congratulations on a wonderful decision and welcome to the SSC. Read and post here all you can it really helps. The support here is awesome so stick around. We have had husbands and wives quit here, just remember to keep your quits separate and you will make it. Be kind to yourselves, this is not easy but it is worth it!!
