What bothers me----

18 years ago 0 852 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hello JanA, Lately, I have read a lot of posts about slipping. I too don't think it was aimed at you. There are many, many, many problems lately. Quite a few people have had life thrown at them, you included. I agree with Christine's response:
some are tough lovers and some are softer.. just difference approaches..
I truely believe that. I did respond to your last post about you slipping. I'm not sure if I was kind & understanding or not. My moods change, just like yours. I respond to post in many different ways. It just depends on how I am feeling. Sometimes I feel strong, and therefore respond with the "life is life" attitude. Sometimes I feel sorry, and respond with the "its okay" attitude. Whichever mood I am in, doesnt really matter though. I have not slipped. I have not wanted a cig badly enough. Maybe I am one of the lucky ones. I also have not had any trauma in my life since my quit. I do consider myself truely lucky, and I know something is coming -- just dont know when. From now on, I will not post on any thread of someone slipping, as I truely dont know how they are feeling. Right now, there is nothing that would make me slip. I am not too sympathetic on that subject. I am sorry if I hurt your feelings in my response. I will say, pick up the pieces and move on. We all care about you, and wish for your success. Keep on fighting! Jan if I am but anything I am honest and would like to admit that my post was not directed to brand new quitters....It was meant to be informative to new quitters but not a slap in the face. I HATED THE FIRST 28 DAYS OF MY QUIT!!! IT SUCKED!!! IT WAS HARD AS HELL!!! If you get time go read my response to replies to my post and you will understand, hopefully, what I am saying. DO NOT TAKE IT PERSONAL!!! It was not meant for you or anyone else for that matter just some things I have discovered about smoking and makes things easier on me. Hey Jan ! Don't take anything too personally. Sometimes you just have to overlook and keep going. People really do want to help.. some are tough lovers and some are softer.. just difference approaches.. I remember when I posted something I thought was funny and most people did as well, there was one person who just hated it and told me so. Well, I didn't respond because I figured that person was probably having a hard time and no reason to add fire to the fuel. It passed.. nothing came of it... sometimes just letting it be works.. We are all more emotional because of quitting.. you are not alone.. believe me.. you are the rule rather than the exception... lol I'm glad you are back.. don't beat yourself up over the past.. look forward.. to a great Spring ahead.. :) Hang Tuff Shamrock ! Jan quitting is hard. We all know that becaues we have done it. Its hard on day one and sometimes it's even hard on day 200 or 300. Quitting is a choice. Do not let any post discourage you from quitting or succeeding in beating this addiction. We all come from different backgrounds, different parts of the world, and we are different ages. In short we are quite a diversified group here. What works for some doesn't for others. I promise you that the only intent of anyone here is to help someone else quit and to continue along the quit journey theirselves. We have all been damaged by this horrible addiction and once you taste the freedom from smoking you will probably take on the same advocate attitude that so many others have here. I congratulation you on your 6 days. That is absolutely awesome. Prior to this quit the longest I had ever gone was 4 days. You are doing a great job. As far as the opinion of those on the site, take what you want and what helps you and leave the rest. Do not take anything personally. We are all addicts here. Keep up the quit. I can't speak for anyone else, but the reason I chose NOW to write my post is because there are a lot of people having trouble... not just one. I didn't want to single any one person out because this is NOT about one person... or two or three or even 10. It's about choices... the choice to live free or in slavery. This affects everyone. Jan, you're very early in your quit, but if you stick around (which I certainly hope you do!!) you'll see that posts like these are made all the time, whether someone slips recently or not. I certainly didn't mean anything personal to you, and I'm pretty sure that nobody else did either. Please don't take offense to anything here. As Lady always says, take what you want and leave the rest. Crave the Quit! Jan, I've been on this site for close to a year now and it runs in cycles. When people post (me included) about "slippers" no one here is intentionally slamming any one individual. Those of us who are fortunate enough to have secure quits sometimes get frustrated at what appears to be a lack of effort for some. That probably isn't the true reality, but it's what is perceived and conveyed through this site. Those who post about slippers have fought their demons and have won. It is with that taste of success still fresh in their minds that they post about staying commited and really fighting. It's not that we have forgotten how hard it was, but we know how cherished the victory is. Best wishes. [b]Be Strong. Be Smart. I dont think any post is aimed at you personally but everyone in general because we all have doubts at times. I also think its the junkie in you talking, trying to tell you its ok to smoke because everyone is picking on you. DONT let that junkie talk get to you, tell him NO NO NO you are not going to smoke and all the wonderful people on here are helping you. Take it 1 min at a time and you will make it. Its not easy but its worth it!! Hang in there Jan! I know and remember very well how hard it was in the begining. I remember screaming at the top of my lungs one night outside of the limo co's garage where I use to work,,,one night late when I was getting off I went outside and just let out a big scream! I cried many tears,,,like a big baby,,,big alligator tears. Made phone calls to friends for support. Stayed glued to this site for the 1st 3 months and am still here often. I prayed alot! I ask GOD every morning to please keep me sober & smoke-free today no matter what happens, please guide and direct my thinking, my actions, and the words that I speak today and please give me the knowledge of your will to be done and the power to carry that out. And then I thank him for keeping me sober and smoke-free for the day. You're right, no one can do it alone :) Try not to take things personal. We are not professional counselors on this site. What we are though are all people with the same goal, to stay quit from smoking. To smell good, fresh & clean from the inside out :) I'm going to bump up a thread for you called "If u can do it so can I". It's a journal of my personal ups & downs through the 1st year of my quit. Check it out :) I'm so happy you made the decision to jump back up and get going on your quit without much hesitation! I'm proud of you! No matter what don't lite up... Keep on keepin on... I am sitting here this morning reading some of the posts - do you want to quit- stop whining- don't forget the first days. I also read in there that if you really want to quit, you can do it. Not everyone has the willpower or the ability to out smart the junkie feeling. Of course I WANT to quit smoking, I have quit smoking. I had a slip, and I turned for support too late, cause I had already had one. But you know what, I know the feelings and opinions are just that. But when someone posts they slipped and turns to you, and everyone starts posting about Quitting and the trueness of the quit, I can't help but feel that they are targetted at me...because WHY else would everyone have posted it ..right after my post of 'I slipped'. I guess I am just being whiny ...SORRY. I resolved to put that patch on again last night and I did, and I haven't looked back. I guess I am in a bad mood again today :( but I promised and wrote it out this morning that if I crave, I will not cave, for I will post on the site, and go to my blog and blog if need be. I will go whine by myself today ..may not be a good person to post anything. Talk to ya all later.
