Hi Lucy, Congratulations on your decision to quit smoking, your family history sounds like mine. Will tomorrow be your first day? I'm confused on the 13 days. I also used the patch and did really well. I hope you have the same results. I had trouble keeping them on, after I cleaned the spot I was going to put it I would dry it really well but it would still fall of. So I started putting tape over it and that solved the problem. Are you seeing a Dr. about your depression? Let us know how you do tomorrow.. Sending blessings your way... Hi! I'm Lucy! I tried to quit a few weeks ago but failed. I have a problem with depression. I'll be starting the patch in the morning. I've been on a leave from work I'll be going back sometime this week. I started smoking when I was 13. I wanted to be cool like this friend of the family who was 18 at the time. I wanted soooooooo much to be like her. Years later I found out she had a drug problem. I kept on smoking anyway. When I was 17 my Mother had breast cancer. She had surgery. And has been cancer free for over twenty years. When I was 23 my Father died of a heart attack. Both of my parents smoked. I kept on smoking anyway. My 42nd birthday just passed on Sunday. I'm still smoking, but this time I really want to quit. New Jersey just passed a law of no smoking in bars or any public place. Hopefully this will help my quit. Its funny how your thinking changes with time. First I thought it was cool to smoke. Now I'm trying hard to be cool again by not smoking. Plus a bunch of other reasons not to smoke. Lucy, Welcome to our support community and thank you for sharing your story. I have changed the title to not reflect your name as per our User Agreement. Please take the time to come up with a quit date. This can be beneficial to work towards. Our online program is a great way to take it step by step and our members are very supportive. Keep Strong, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
